We've oversaturated the closer entrance to metal. We need someone to break the mold and run in to classical or jazz.
I've already voted for @abdulelsayed.bsky.social so if I were to ask him a question at this point it would be "Remember Ernest Shazor? Cato June?"
again, if i had a calculator that gave me the wrong answer one (1) time, i would throw it out and never use it again and could probably bankrupt the company by simply telling people what happened
Gotta love the “or stocks” part. Like Gemini realized its first answer was nuts so it tried to wedge in a better one.
I am a product of this system. I loved it and, in some ways, I still do. I cherish a lot of those memories. But it’s all braided with several poisonous strains of thinking that have cast a shadow over my life and, in many ways, my whole generation. This is my attempt to reckon with that legacy.
Reckoning With the Youth Groups That Raised Us
We were meant to live for so much more. But we lost ourselves.

In the 90s and 00s, churches invested millions in youth group, creating a parallel universe for christian teenagers to grow up in and, eventually, change the world. That was the plan anyway. What happened? My first cover story for @sojo.net.
This is the best thing I've read on churches and youth groups since @jasonkirk.fyi's excellent book. Youth groups of my childhood were a mission to shape you into a very specific type of Christian with a specific set of politics. It missed opportunity to teach you how to love others or yourself.

12 hours until polls close, 24 hours until my bridge opens to cyclists
One reason I’m not terribly worried about the Michigan race is this is a very easy slam dunk for Public Health expert El-Sayed to make the general election about. And if he can’t hit that? Well that’s on him.
They are the first reported deaths linked to a massive outbreak of the intestinal illness that began in May.

feeling like an Abdul win that gets called as soon as polls close.
Fauci did the best he could in a truly difficult situation with complete hogs and bozos around him touting lies, grifts, selfishness and stupidity while thousands died, and to get treated like this by these gremlins is such an insult. It's more than an insult, man I can't even put words to it
paying influencers $1,500 to post "I've seen enough. Kyle Whittingham and the 2026 Michigan Wolverines have 'the juice' for a championship run" bsky.app/profile/benc...
A dark money campaign is offering influencers $1,500 per post to attack Abdul El-Sayed and support Haley Stevens. Same exact dollar figure that was paid to attack @katmabu.bsky.social (Nobody ever found out who was paying for that campaign.) Gross, lazy and above all cynical shit.
The World Cup -> unique and interesting domestic pyramids across the world Jimothy the raccoon -> all of the great raccoons doing adorable and appreciated things in our neighborhoods every day

I would absolutely love to ride my bike around the field of a MLB ballpark, and I will even stay on the warning track.
