Professional dog walker that ran for Congress 2025-26 (D.C. Delegate). Campaign donations still help, https://gordonchaffin.com | Dog work referrals appreciated, https://dcdogcare.com | I also lead a community nonprofit Friends of Met Branch Trail.
I'm working on some new D.C. dog business stuff! For now, booking and reviews for my custom dog walks, training, and sitting is on Rover. dcdogcare.com
The USMNT and Knicks being really good except for the precise moment when Trump involves himself is really funny
People are right to be mad about the predictable Platner fiasco, but it's worth remembering that last year a ton of establishment Democrats supported disgraced sexual harasser Andrew Cuomo against clean-as-a-whistle Zohran. Tolerating problem men is an issue across the ideological spectrum.
I watched four international news broadcasts this evening. Trump cheating with Balogun call was top news story on 3 of 4. It’s not structural but this moment may well be a notable in his eventual political autopsy. It’s got that texture to it.
The embarrassment of celebrating Trump’s corruption and cheating at the World Cup. Jeffries telling the world the Democratic Party also supports corruption at the world stage. Pathetic.
God grant me the resilience of a ceasefire signed by Donald Trump as described by US media, which can only ever be tested, but never broken
Fresh reports of strikes on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz presented another test of the fragile cease-fire between the U.S. and Iran, as President Trump flew to a NATO summit where discussions about the war were expected.
This is classy from both of them. Belgium got the result that justice demanded but Balogun was put in a no-win situation and has handled it as best anyone could
Until we address the fact most talented soccer players in the US can’t afford to compete because club and travel teams have snuffed rec/school ball out, this is probably going to keep happening.
And also this is Trump’s fault. Getting involved in the red card drama and then gloating about it. Cursed the team. Remember the only game Knicks lost in the playoffs was the one Trump attended.
Waymo self-driving cars in D.C. have Patriotic wrapping this week. We tend to see interesting stuff all the time on my dog walks. dcdogcare.com
The Q St Barbies here in D.C. are stuck in the Reflecting Pool!
"We really needed that rain" is such a dad-coded thing to say 😆 I enjoyed another dog sitting visit with Ruthie, the Black Lab-Mastiff mix. dcdogcare.com
In just 13 states with available data, the number of children receiving SNAP has fallen by more than 800,000 since the One Big Beautiful Bill was enacted last July. www.cbpp.org/press/statem...
As Millions Lose SNAP, Senate Farm Bill Proposal Ignores Urgent Need to Protect Food Assistance for Low-Income Families
The farm bill proposal released today by Senate Agriculture Committee Chair John Boozman ignores the rapidly worsening hunger crisis in the wake of the 2025 Republican reconciliation law (H.R. 1).

Climate.us is officially live! After NOAA ended Climate.gov’s day-to-day operations in 2025, former team members built Climate.us to carry that work forward. Their explanations and graphics have always stood out to me as clear, accessible, and transparent. I’m really looking forward to this reboot.

NEW: We defeated a lawsuit seeking to block new housing on upper Connecticut Avenue NW. The lawsuit challenged zoning changes that will allow multifamily housing in the DC neighborhood with the fewest affordable units. We’re fighting for more homes to drive down housing costs for everyone in DC.
The July 4th National Mall fireworks show is scheduled at 10:30-11:10p this year (tentatively, might even be later than that), about 1.5 hours later than normal, double length. A very big change for bars/rooftop parties and for families who normally might take their kids to it
Lots of silly play time today with dogs as we dried off from the rain. Dog walks, rain or shine! dcdogcare.com
DC’s FY27 budget proposal reflects the new 25/75 federal-local split for SNAP. Considering the other fed changes for SNAP & Medicaid also requires a significant tech system upgrade — the only winners here are contractors.
A group of former governors in the Senate just released a statement in support of delaying H.R. 1's SNAP cost shift for all states, calling it a "ticking time bomb for state budgets and for millions of low-income families who depend on food assistance." www.hickenlooper.senate.gov/press_releas...
A better message, loads more volunteers, and a competitor’s poorly timed entry into the race. Here’s the story of how @janeese4dc.bsky.social decisively beat @kenyanmcduffie.bsky.social in D.C.’s mayoral primary, in @notus.com: www.notus.org/metro/janees...
How Janeese Lewis George Won D.C.'s Mayoral Primary
A message of change, an army of volunteers, and her opponent's missteps all contributed to her victory.

I end my Saturdays at a long dog walking appt with Kobe, the girl pup who loves adventures in NE D.C. neighborhood of Carver Terrace. I worked with her on training early to reduce her reactivity to new people on and off leash. Look at her roll in the grass (I checked for dead stuff)! dcdogcare.com
We keep doing this. Sometimes reporters learn things from sources who say “you can put this in the book but if you publish it now I will systematically work to discredit you.” And, fun fact, we don’t know from the outside that they’re being discredited for BS reasons!
Maybe it’s naïve at this point, but it bothers me that filing pertinent information away for a future book while working as a journalist isn’t considered a conflict of interest.
Background: a month ago I predicted the scum pond they've made will delaminate in ~5 years. That turned out to be ~5 years too optimistic, and here's why (I think). 2/x bsky.app/profile/mona...
If Rhino Pipeliner 5000 (w custom flag blue tint) is indeed what they're applying, in around 5 years it'll be delaminating and peeling up in massive slimy sheets. So a perfect future metaphor for the Trump years inB4 capitol scum pond liner delamination
Didn’t even last a Scaramucci!

That's the problem with the Dems (and every other center left party) when they don't win an election, they try to appeal to the voters of the winner of the election, instead of trying to appeal to the people who didn't vote at all.
We're just a few hundred short on the donation match up to $1,000 toward my working class congressional campaign. Huge thanks to the D.C. residents and donors making it possible for me to recover financially. givetogordon.com
Okay, wait. Did people read this line from the FOMC… “The Federal Open Market Committee approved the following statement for release by a 12 – 0 vote:” …to mean the actual policy vote was unanimous? Because I definitely didn’t.
