Ironic that a scholar (legit) of Jewish history can write seriously that Kabbalah was de-emphasized in Jewish education without understanding that his own Orthodox background isn't all Jewish education. I learned Kabbalah from someone who had the Talmud memorized. For Hasidim, it's not either/or.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. You made *short* calls or the neighbors got pissed. Course we only had 4 neighbors, all of us down a 1/4 mile dirt driveway.
