My youngest kid, crying: "I hate this game but I want to play it" We've all been there buddy.
In the latest episode of @rangedtouch.bsky.social Shelved by Genre, we get more evidence for @austinwalker.bsky.social’s theory of Aragorn the anarchist king — he enters into Minas Tirith to begin his reign on May Day.
My 4-yr-old is currently in tears because the Rankin & Bass adaptation of The Hobbit has elided his favorite guy, Beorn.
Someone (on here, I think) described this as an example of Philadelphia as "the vanguard of righteous haterism" and that phrase has not left my mind ever since.
The robot met its end in Elfreth’s Alley on Aug. 1, 2015.
any of y'all who teach with/about RPGs, do you have a good assignment sheet / syllabus for assigning students to form groups to play GM'ed, campaign games like D&D as homework?
Nice to hear @brendanmcleod.dev talking @nictringali.bsky.social’s Amberspire on Paper Labyrinths — I too have spiraled my way into a hateful rustopolis, and I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one. (the episode also features @hollynielsen.bsky.social talking (un)reliable histories in games).
I won’t be at #gencon but you can find my games there. Keep the Faith is at Central Michigan University Press’s booth (in the quote) and Ahoy will be on the table at Leder Games booth!

If the Jackson campaign doesn’t have Joel on their payroll by the end of the day, they’ve messed up.
Troy Jackson should lean hard into this being Hot Troy Summer, and make a campaign advertisement where a wooden Susan Collin’s talks about being “concerned” and moderate, and then it opens up and Donald Trump jumps out from inside.

Summer preserves — dill pickles, salsa, pickled cabbage. not pictured: pickled beets, grilled jalapeño hot sauce.
I’m 20 minutes into a 3-hour episode of @rangedtouch.bsky.social Shelved by Genre and it’s already an all-timer.
Quick game design question for the #TTRPG players -- if you have to store map data from session to session, which is preferred: A: Mark up a paper map, print a new one if changes get to be too much. B: Use cubes, pawns, minis, etc., knowing you'll have to mark/photograph/remember their positions.
It would be amazing to have a Mamdani style governor of one of these states. Someone who would try out new approaches to funding higher-ed while also putting the lie to the constant claims of poverty. I think just one somewhere in the U.S. could dramatically change how we talk about these issues.
My favorite academic conference is coming back starting tomorrow! (I have caretaker duties to attend to so my attendance will be sporadic at best)
The free online academic conference Generation Analog 2026 is putting board game sustainability, environmental theming and more under the microscope on July 15 and 16: boardgamewire.com/index.php/20... Very cool project from @analoggamestudies.bsky.social and Asmodee co-founded Game in Lab
Celebrate #WorldOrcaDay with the Blackfish Brigade, on your tabletop or now on Board Game Arena! bit.ly/AhoyOnBGA
