This is a story about the President and several of his hand-picked appointees all committing crimes and blatantly lying to the public while stealing public funds and abusing the criminal justice system, but the NYTimes describes the situation like they're recapping a soap opera.

the wealthy (who control the business press) want expansive, stimulative monetary policy when Republicans run government and restrictive, recessionary policy when Democrats run government. So you get articles like this saying inflation is fake when a Republican is in charge.

There's no federal civil action against federal agents killing someone (RIP Bivens) and now there's no federal criminal culpability. Even if states investigate (and they absolutely should), Supremacy Clause immunity might bar prosecution. It's lawless impunity.

Many of these outlets often receive transcripts, and I think we have an ethical obligation not to air things that undermine our elections and are not rooted in fact.
Not the biggest issue with mainstream media coverage but not the smallest: There was no plan. There never was a plan. Trump just says shit. An unbiased headline would read, “Trump’s Hormuz Bluster Turns Out to Be Total Nonsense, As Usual.”
