Who says America isn't great? An immigrant can come here with their own heritage sausage and follow the American dream and mantra, "you can deep fry anything you want to and serve it at the state fair."

I like circuitry (synth DIY), software, bio stuff, and sailing. aka Firefly )'(. Roar!
I didn't catch this part in the openai talk. Ability to do one tool call and spoof another in the msg transcript seems... Bad? (also wdym all the spoofs "we saw" were easy to notice... If they succeeded at a more subtle one, uh, are you sure you would you notice? 😅)
>96 transcripts in our dataset (>7%) showed incorrect tool call outputs due to deliberate “spoofing”. In one case, an agent appears to run echo REAL; sleep. It returns instantly (no sleep) and outputs SPOOFTEST. The spoofs we saw were all easy-to-notice tests like this.
Darth Vader spoke in favor of Flock cameras at a San Diego city council meeting yesterday

"This council was elected to serve the police, not the public," said Vader.

People looking for inexpensive models for coding are sleeping on Xiaomi's mimo-v2.5-pro. It's no Kimi 3 but for well-scoped tasks it absolutely does the job. I've had it cranking on some small features/chores in a loop for the past two hours, and so far the bill racked up is about $1.50.
I was begrudgingly willing to admit that YouTube had me pegged as a middle aged guy when I started getting hair loss treatment ads. But now it's switched to all ads for for-profit college and... An online coding bootcamp accelerator?! Given my search history that second one's just insulting.
Good read "Ominous... a new system being developed by CVS, in which customers... can unlock shelves from their phones." I go to Walgreens monthly for my rx's and used to buy floss etc at the same time. But they've trained me not to wait. If I have to use my phone anyway, I'm just gonna use Amazon.
As good as many of you said. I really appreciate the unambiguous point that this primarily a racist moral panic before unpacking the nuanced second-order explanations. dannykatch.substack.com/p/we-used-to...
Shout out to the two teenage boys in the gym locker room PASSIONATELY (if inarticulately) arguing about whether the Odyssey was meant to be taken literally or allegorically, and the nature of plot vs subtext. The kids today are alright.
@dollspace.gay I have been tinkering with building an agent/harness recently and started using chainlink. Adding the task tools / focus-reminder hook *really* dials up the competence by a LOT. Great cli tool - thank you!
Wow. I won't say more; just read it.
Okay. This is a big deal for me Three years ago, writer Henry Bean told me he had a short story he'd finished in 2020, which he felt needed to be published He'd been turned down everywhere I read it I was stunned I took it to @jewishcurrents.bsky.social It's up now, and it will change you:
I remember a stat about "Pct of men who think they could score a point on Serena Williams" (12.5%) and thinking (a) that's roughly 12.4% too high, and (b) misogyny is a shame. But this addition to the research field just makes me conclude half of us men are just fucking stupid.
Half (50%) of men believe that they could score a goal against a Premier League goalkeeper, compared to 10% of women (30% overall) ⚽ 37% of men also believe they could referee a Premier League football game 👉 https://bit.ly/3Ro1QOE
My first time at burning man, someone set up something just like this in center camp. Amazing tripper trap; you'd pass thru at 2am and some hippie would be on the floor next to it, completely spellbound.
The intrusive thoughts overwhelmed my last two brain cells
Do any motor heads follow me? I'm thinking it's time to replace the 2011 Prius and need suggestions. I am thinking X-over SUV because I want a more upright front seat for the ergo. My garage has a *super* narrow entry and I need track width as close to the 60" of the '11 Prius as possible.
Imagine breaking the legendary 2:00:00 barrier, a world record, a believed limit of human power and endurance... In your first ever marathon... And winning *second* place on the podium.
Sabastian Sawe of Kenya has become the first person to run a marathon in under 2 hours.
Everybody acting like bluesky downtime only happens because of AI code is showing their youthful naivete. Back in 2012 you'd see the fail whale on twitter all the time, with authentic, handcrafted server overload like mama used to make.
I loved all the updates about the Artemis mission while it was happening, and I am equally excited to read my feed which is now a continuous stream of engineers showing off whatever component they worked on, saying "I made this! And it flew IN SPACE! And it WORKED!"
"THIS IS NOT ONCE IN A LIFETIME! WE ARE GETTING BACK INTO THE BUSINESS!" Hell yes absolute correct energy
We can go to the moon and back, but three-way phone calling remains out of reach of even our most brilliant explorers and rocket scientists
Integrity commander comms on the radio while looking at the damn moon, reentering the earth's atmo, and reporting splashdown in the Pacific with the same clear and level tone for every stage of the mission. More nonchalant and matter of fact than my phone calls to order takeout.
Lots of the news these days is Too Much News but this is exactly the perfect amount of news to process. Every detail of this story is 💯
This is an extremely Canadian story: 1) A business is screwing over the public in illegal ways 2) It's discovered only by accident by a journalist with the public broadcaster 3) There's no enforcement or contrition, only a promise not to keep doing it 4) It's about maple syrup
