People are discussing how Halloween candy is so terrible these days. A reminder that alot of the candy we eat is made with women’s prison labor. Russell Stover’s factory in Kansas busses in 150 women a day via a convict leasing program to staff their candy factory.

Russell Stover has begun using prison labor to make candy in
Kansas
A Russell Stover candy factory in Kansas has begun hiring incarcerated workers through a work release program, Eoin Higgins reports in his newsletter, The Flashpoint. About 150 women are bussed in from the Topeka Correctional Facility and paid $14 an hour, but the prison keeps some of their wages for room and board, taxes, transportation, and other expenses. When all is said and done, they take home less than $6 per hour. These deductions are high, but elsewhere in the country, they're even higher: In our May series on prison

We are are going to see talking points from the top down calling kids and young adults who don’t use AI, social media, or even smart phones who find alternative avenues to engage with culture “hipsters” and I’m begging you not to fall for it this time.

Whew this year’s COVID formulation is an asskicking. I would always rather have my ass kicked by a shot instead of a particularly dangerous virus, but if you plan to get it, make sure you build in recovery time.

For those who don’t know: The viral videos circulating online showing a person dressed as the Statue of Liberty on rollerblades outrunning ICE agents on the 101 Freeway are entirely AI-generated. The clips were created using AI tools for political satire and parody.

Everyone in this story saying “I’m pro-union, but we don’t need one here”: There are 10^x of you at every American company. Literally nowhere is the exception. The fact that you think you’re better than your coworkers IS the leverage that the company is using against you and everyone else.

i wonder what mr. tambourine man's song is/was never really described, never even says he plays a tambourine. maybe that's just his name? mr. jamaal k. tambourine jr., of stevens point WI

What’s funny is you can just run into Moldbug on the streets of Chinatown NYC where he pretends to be a cool guy in a leather jacket who writes poetry at outdoor seating coffee shops and tell his 5’6 ass, who also happens to be Jewish as well, to off himself. Like I have.

the Vice President of the United States has gone on record citing this man as one of his biggest intellectual influences if you didn't know this, it's probably because for some reason literally no mainstream political media outlets think it's worth mentioning

Socialism is being thrown around a lot, but almost none of these candidates are actually socialists and Americans don't know what socialism means.
