The Georgetown University Wargaming Society (GUWS) provides a venue for current and aspiring wargamers to learn more about wargaming and build their professional networks. 🔗 www.guwargaming.org

The French #Navy showcased a really interesting #wargame focused on conducting battle damage on a ship. Inspired by "Pandemic," the players control different specialists who can respond to different challenges. I can see lots of educational applications for the wargame. 🎲 💥 🚢

First learning session of Battlegroup Clash: Baltics by James Buckley and Sapper Studio. I really like this new trend in professional games turning to commercial ones. Sync matrices, hexless maps, EW - they're all here in BCB.

Wargame map depicting land, town and river with counters set up. There's a rulebook placed on top of the map. The title says Battlegroup Clash: Baltics.

I haven’t talked about it in a while but Spindletop is very much still in development, Texagons and all. In the most recent iteration, the poker has taken a back seat to the economic Euro part of the game, although you can still win useful rewards from having the best hand each round. 🎲✂️

Game board for the prototype of Spindletop. A map of Texas made up of smaller Texas shaped tiles. A scoring track around the edge, with an income track nestled inside of it. And an action selection track in the top left.

As a game designer, I always love learning other people's games. It is an opportunity to learn something new -- a different way to see a problem, how a clever mechanic is employed, or a contrasting design approach. A designer needs to constantly evolve to stay proficient. #wargaming
