Brown pelican doing what is called wave slope soaring using updrafts created by breaking waves to conserve valuable energy without flapping, sometimes over a considerable distance. Very cool. πͺΆπΏ

Give me a book on the porch with birds chirping and I'm happy. Daughters, a granddaughter, husband and the dog. π§’βΎοΈπ¦
Piled (some of) the dog toys into the small bed so I could vacuum. Rashford approved as he is now King of All the Toys! π Many other options available, he chose this one. #DogsOfBluesky #becurious #MiniatureSchnauzer
There are many things to admire about hummingbirds: their shiny feathers, their impressive flying abilities, their fierceness. But when I get a photo like this mostly what I think is LOOK AT THE ITTY BITTY FEETS!!!!! (Ruby-throated Hummingbird) #birds πΏ
This morning there were quite a few black birds suddenly at the feeders. Still expecting Grackles, they were instead male and female Red-winged Blackbirds. I hadn't seen them in a couple of weeks and it was good to hear their chatter. πͺΆ
An American Crow has claimed the tip of a tall red cedar and seems to be dealing with a flying bug. Aren't we all. πͺΆ
I was expecting Grackles when spotting black birds through a window until I realized their eyes were not yellow. They were large American Crows checking things out. Sadly the figs are gone now. πͺΆ
Yesterday afternoon I barely caught the Grackles flying through the treetops. There was a large noisy flock that traveled from east to west landing in trees all along the way. Ever since I've been convinced every large black bird I saw was a Grackle , but they were not. πͺΆ
It's exciting when the empty Hummingbird feeders are filled up again in the morning! πͺΆ
We have a family of blue jays that visit the birdbath and garden regularly. #birds
It's not commonly known but American Robins are in the sponge family. π€£ Here, in slow motion, we see the robin getting larger as if it were a sponge. #birds
Yesterday as it was getting dark one of the Hummingbirds found a dangling branch high in the maple tree to watch their preferred feeder from and taste the air. πͺΆ
A pale brownish yellow goldfinch showed up at the feeders. A couple of bright yellow males have been around for a few days and now a few females have arrived. πͺΆ

A couple of #BirdBuddies looking out over the ocean for the #BirdOfTheDay. A Ruddy Turnstone and maybe a Sanderling. Shorebirds often hang out in mixed species groups. #birds πΏ
A Brown- headed Nuthatch breaking up a seed with the help of a dead branch was successful! πͺΆ
A tiny twig perch is perfect for tiny Hummingbird feet. πͺΆ
The morning Hummingbirds. The little bee was bothering me, too! πͺΆ
Today's #BirdOfTheDay challenge is #BirdBuddies. Cardinals like their space, but other birds like their company. The House Finches and Cardinals are buddies and usually visit the feeders at the same time. A Red- bellied Woodpecker is welcome to grab some birdseed. πͺΆ
#BirdOfTheDay #BirdBuddies different species hanging together. Mr. Black-headed Grosbeak, "Why, yes, the mate and I are building a nest. Why do you ask?" (with Brown-headed Cowbird) #birds #becuriousπͺΆ
