US elites decided, like a school of fish, that climate concern is old, boring, "woke," square, not hip & popular any more. As usual, it was based almost entirely on internal elite dynamics. It had nothing to do with the actual public, which is more concerned than ever.

Actual energy independence is meeting all the country’s energy needs with domestic renewables, not drilling more fossil fuels which are unavoidably subject to global market fluctuations.

Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks. Those that didn't now pay the price.
Right now, unfolding around us on a global scale, is a rich and unambiguous lesson on the dangers of fossil fuel dependence. The most obvious solution is for the affected countries to reduce their dependence through clean energy. Are you seeing that message in media?

Media summarize Hochul’s attack on the climate law as a “clash” between “affordability” and “climate goals”. But that’s not true! Solar is the cheapest energy. Hochul’s the one who’d raise utility bills. It’s *actually* a clash between the public’s interest and the gas lobby.
