Mothering two daughters and daughtering one mother who lives with dementia (and me). Women’s basketball brings me joy. Local politics bring me pain, but I talk about it anyways.

yesterday, trump goons raided the offices of the ohio organizing collaborative, a group that’s been doing voter registration for over 20 years. they even showed up at people’s homes. we have to watch out for this shit. it is an outright attack on Black voters, and on all of our freedom to vote

The Minnesota Lynx are a balm to the soul of a hurting city, Minneapolis. If you’re not watching the absolute magic happening on this team right now, you’re missing out. It’s beautiful basketball from incredible women and it will bring you so much joy. Trust me. Pull up to a game this summer.

Again, players on standard contracts - which *includes* 'training camp' and rookie-scale contracts - have to be waived, clear waivers, then re-signed to development contracts in order to be moved to dev spots. Also, of course, no guarantee they clear without being claimed. #WNBA

July 21 1935: The Führer orders a new reception hall and ballroom to "entertain foreign diplomats" at the Chancellery. Underneath the dance floor is an air raid shelter. A 2nd deeper bunker is built next to this in 1944, where he would spend his last days as the Reich collapsed.

Trump rants his ballroom will feature "Bomb Shelters, a State of the Art Hospital & Medical Facilities,Top Secret Military Installations, Protective Missile Resistant Steel, Drone Proof Ceilings, Military Grade Venting, & Bullet, Ballistic, & Blast Proof Glass" Dafuq kind of ballroom is this?

The White House doesn’t have a Ballroom (No Taxpayer Money!), which Presidents have desperately wanted and desired for over 150 years, but a Trump Hating, Washington, D.C. District Court Judge, a man who has gone out of his way to undermine National Security, and to make sure that this Great Gift to America gets delayed, or doesn’t get built, is attempting to prevent future Presidents and World Leaders from having a safe and secure large scale Meeting Place, or Ballroom, one with Bomb Shelters, a State of the Art Hospital and Medical Facilities, Protective Partitioning, Top Secret Military Installations, Structures, and Equipment, Protective Missile Resistant Steel, Columns, Roofs, and Beams, Drone Proof Ceilings and Roofs, Military Grade Venting, and Bullet, Ballistic, and Blast Proof Glass —which all means that no future President, living in the White House without this Ballroom, can ever be Safe and Secure at Events, Future Inaugurations, or Global Summits. This Magnificent Space will allow them to carry out their vital duties as the Leader of our Nation. Furthermore, the Ballroom, which is being constructed on budget and ahead of schedule, is needed now. Almost all material necessary for its construction is being built and/or on its way to the site, ready for installation and erection. Much of it has already been paid for, costing Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. If somebody, especially one with no standing, had a complaint — Why wasn’t it filed many months earlier, long before Construction was started? The Public Record was open for all to see. Everybody knew that it was planned, and going to be built. This highly political Judge, and his illegal overreach, is out of control, and costing our Nation greatly. This is a mockery to our Court System! The Ballroom is deeply important to our National Security, and no Judge can be allowed to stop this Historic and Militarily Imperative Project. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Jim Pete was very bullish on Howard and he worked with her a ton. We picked her up after two years in Indy, she went to the finals with the Lynx in 2016 and 2017, but she was coming off the bench behind Sylvia Fowles and Rebekkah Brunson. Of course she went somewhere to get minutes.

Natasha Howard going back to Minnesota is... interesting. It was a long time ago, but her career only took off when she got away from Cheryl Reeve. Now going back there, and back to Reeve, to try and help fill their Smith-sized hole. #WNBA

For at least one night, (probably) the biggest contract in WNBA history belongs to Bridget Carleton. #WNBA (I don't know for certain how much they threw at the big names back in the day to join the W instead of the ABL)

FYI if you are outside the Twin Cities and want to come visit and support local businesses and also get a view of Minneapolis at its best, you should come for the Mayday parade on Sunday, May 3 Beautifully chaotic, endlessly artistic. Huge puppets. Amazing dance groups. Steampunk contraptions.
