"...talking about ending corporal punishment in schools feels like some indictment of the way that they were raised or what was passed down in their own families." It IS an indictment. The way WE were raised was bad & needs to change.

15 states have laws that allow corporal punishment in schools. Here's where, and why

There is broad consensus among psychologists that corporal punishment can be harmful to children, but the U.S. has no federal laws banning it in public schools.

Pitt's cyber security training pre-semester is trying to tell me how to properly write an AI prompt so's not to run ethically afoul. It isn't listening as I shout at the screen, "THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!"

With respect to Cofnas, why is nobody talking about this in the MSM? > We find it [improbably] that [he] was the best out of 14 candidates for this job[. His boss] repeatedly stated in the press that [he] published in highly ranked journals and had been affiliated with leading institutions. 1/n

I only ~very recently~ told my husband about my suicidal ideation, & yes, he panicked a bit at first. I explained that there is literally not a single morning I don't wake up & ask if today's a good day to die. So far I'm 2-ish/19,162. That stat put him more at ease. -->

TW: Suicide If you tell people you have SI, many are likely to suggest you call 988 or text the suicide lifeline. These are good resources *if you need to be kept physically safe;* they are not as helpful if your ideations are passive. Allow me to share some things that have helped me. /1

Currently being dragged on another social media site over whether a child's inability to sleep at a popular local campsite may be due to paranormal activity. I'll give you 3 guesses what my opinion is on the matter, first 2 don't count.

I do laundry: sort, wash, dry, fold, &, for 2/3 of us, put away. It's an entire day, & for me that day includes time to exercise, to listen to podcasts, to chat with Dearly Beloved across the hall. I can see what needs mending or replacing, & what's been forgotten @ the bottom of a drawer. -->

“The traditionally feminized practice of care is set apart from the hypermasculinized notions of disruption that dominate places such as Silicon Valley, where creation & destruction are one & the same.” Adrienne Brown pushes back against corporations selling us a future free from mundane tasks.

Don't trust The Guardian piece about the diverted cable. The area in question was already protected. The framing of the article does double duty; it fluffs JKR, & it makes the project manager seem less like a POS, when he actually put the thing somewhere just as bad.
