we developmentalists are a small minority of scientists, but had the NIH reorganization gone through, the entire child development wing of NIH (that is, the NICHD) would have basically been decimated. so yeah, this counts as a win in my book

Both chambers of Congress have now passed the FY26 minibus with NIH provisions. The President will sign. (1) $48.7 billion for NIH (2) Full IDC recovery (3) No more multi-year funding (4) No NIH reorganization, maintaining the current IC structure.

When I'm feeling particularly hopeless about the future of professoring as a profession, I try to remind myself: That's what they want. They want us to not want to be professors anymore.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just passed a bill that would subject immigrant children to invasive bodily searches and keep them in detention instead of releasing them to their families. The Senate must vote no on this horrific bill.
