blizzard workers had to fight tooth and nail for years, but they finally did it: they secured a union contract not just for one team, but for all unionized units--warcraft, overwatch, diablo, and more

Prior to spring of this year, the WoW team, which unionized in 2024, had gotten the lion's share of bargaining time. Other units found themselves stuck in the mud. Higher-ups were effectively stalling the whole process—unfortunately nothing new for unionized workers under Microsoft’s umbrella.
"For this whole year of bargaining on the Diablo side—and I imagine on the rest of the units as well—we received so few [bargaining] dates, but we kind of had the understanding that whatever WoW was able to win would at least influence and set the floor for the rest of our units,” Diablo senior environment artist Mahreen Fatima told Aftermath. “We adopted this messaging about how WoW's wins are our wins, so we should be out there mobilizing with them. But truly, I feel like the company dragged its feet and did a lot of posturing and wasting time until the very, very last moment this last month to finally be able to say, 'OK, yes, we are willing to extend this contract to everyone.' Both of these Jupiter-bound spacecraft are heading back to Earth to gain speed for the slingshot to Jupiter. #ESAJuice flys past on September 28th, #EuropaClipper on December 3rd, giving them both the opportunity to test instruments and hopefully do some new science. #EPSC2026
Incredibly, despite their different paths and development times, #ESAJuice and #EuropaClipper will both fly by Europa within 4 hours of each other in 2032… a first for studying the potential ocean world, with synergistic opportunities being developed by an international team. #EPSC2026
As someone involved in EJSM nearly 20yrs ago, sitting in #EPSC2026 talks and learning how #ESAJuice and #EuropaClipper are now doing science during cruise is pretty mind-bending: tracking solar ejections, radar scans of Mars, detecting Earth’s lightning from above, and even an interstellar object.
No one should be surprised that OpenAI — a company that built their systems on stolen work — would steal the work of researchers and try to take credit for it.

What's bothering me about AI on Bluesky, and which for the sake of civility I have been biting my tongue about probably more than I should, is the increasing number of people willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that *all of these products* are built with stolen labor and copyright violations.
