Because I'm in too deep, it's easy for me to forget how insane this all is. An anonymous Facebook account claiming to represent rogue members of the National Park Service has posted fake spy-like "code messages," and amassed millions of followers for doing so.
This is gonna sound unfathomably arrogant but I think I could do every current cabinet secretary’s job better than it is currently being done

Climate pals, what are your favorite examples of actions that simultaneously reduce climate pollution and help us adapt to climate changes that we can no longer avoid? Joint Adaptation and Mitigation (JAM), if you will.
Look all I know is that they're driving environmental harm and I don't really care how much help anyone thinks they are at coding, data centers are sucking up water and power at a rate that is harming actual human beings and the world around us and therefore LLMs can get fucked.
was discussing with a fellow traveler today -- but programmers, coders, developers are having an *entirely* different experience of LLM-based products and services than the rest of us, especially the plagiarized plebeians among us (writers, reporters).
If anyone is wondering, my wife is super-sensitive smells and air quality, and our home is a virtual maze of air purifiers. Of all the ones I've owned, Sans are hands down the best. Quietest, most efficient, easiest filters to change, and really, really do their job.
Well this nicely justifies all the money I spent on air purifiers yesterday. jasminedevv.github.io/AQI2cigarett...

As someone who canvassed full-time as a job during 2024 & talked to literally 1,000s of voters for a pro-choice initiative & Tester, I can say the reason why the "democratic party was poison" was cuz of bland, status quo politicians like Tester & Chuck Schumer who had 0 vision for the future. #MTpol
The Democratic strategy in red states is to run against their own brand. Former Senator Jon Tester said to fellow state Democrats about supporting Bodnar, “During my last two races the democratic Party was poison in my attempts to get re-elected.” www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
This is a great day for public health. “In a move that seemed out of reach just six months ago, the Food and Drug Administration approved Moderna’s influenza vaccine for older adults on Wednesday, the first licensed flu shot made using messenger RNA technology.” @jackiantonovich.bsky.social

NYT says Trump is going to take the Qatari bribe jet AND one of the old Air Force Ones when he leaves office. He can put the broken down old one in his presidential library and do what he likes with the new one we just paid billions of tax dollars to retrofit. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/05/u...
We all figured this was his goal, but to have finally spelled out… More graft, more corruption, more looting the treasury.

"In 2022, Wiley removed over 1,300 ebooks from academic library collections; [they said] perpetual access is not an option for subscribed content. In 2025, Clarivate,... announced they would stop offering libraries perpetual access licenses for ebooks and primary-source digital collections."
like if you say "no but it's super useful for some people" to, idk, a professional writer, they will find that offensive and incomprehensible and I'm not sure there's a coherent way to say that's wrong. The usefulness just literally doesn't exist for them, and asserting it exists doesn't help.
🚨 KOSA UPDATE The added "duty of care" standard would force websites to identify minors to avoid legal risk, pushing the internet toward ID checks, facial scans, mass age-gating, excessive data collection and censorship FOR EVERYONE. Next comes a full Senate vote. Contact your senators NOW. (1/2)
The Senate Commerce Committee just passed KOSA out of committee with zero debate & failed to move the SCREEN Act. punchbowl.news/article/tech...
I reviewed FEC data for the AIPAC-linked United Democracy Project PAC that contributed to Haley Stevens' campaign. This PAC's donors are not all liberal, and in fact fund Republicans, Democrats, and other AIPAC-linked PACs in roughly equal measure, giving slightly more to Republicans than Democrats.
If he was really upset about her post he could have just blocked her or detached his quote. Instead he decided to draw waves of attention to her, made her an international target for transphobia, and ruined her digital life. And for what? A bad, mean joke? Was it worth it?
This is heartbreaking. @kenjennings.bsky.social did so much damage and his actions caused a cascade that chased an innocent trans woman off the internet The fact that she has suffered all the consequences from his actions should make everyone stop and think about how privilege played out here

I keep seeing slopcels say “But I need AI for ideas!” 🥺 If you need to dry out the Susquehanna to do a storyboard, maybe you’re in the wrong job. I mean, I had to start keeping a clipboard and scrap paper on the couch because I kept getting jewelry design ideas at breakfast or Liora snuggles.
Stealing from us like we're conquered territory. Intolerable.
The Trump regime admitted in court filings that the cancellation of clean energy grants for Hawaiʻi was because the state voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, rather than the previously stated reasons of advancing energy needs or economic viability.

TTP alerted @wired.com to over 50 image and video ads containing AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that we discovered in the Meta ad library. We also reported the ads—which made no effort to mask the images or hide what they were promoting—to @ncmec.org.

No One Can Afford to Make ‘Myst’ Games Anymore
“Myst” sold over 6 million copies in the ’90s. Its latest sequel couldn’t shore up any funding, pointing to an existential crisis among double-A games.
