Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
Yes lockdown was really tough for kids. Lots of those kids are teenagers now so maybe as a thank you our establishments could stop deliberately making even more things worse for them due to a weird systemic hatred of our own youth

Our electric bill was $600 this month. We do have window air conditioners and I know electric costs gone up for everybody but even so $600 seems kind of ridiculous.

Last year, I talked to hundreds of high schoolers at an all-day event about mental health. Each session, I asked them to name where they can go outside of their home and their school to hang out, without expectation of buying something and/or being sniped at. Every session: two answers.

And they sense that. Our children’s room is the liveliest space in our library. 📚

Most people if they are out of work for more than three days need to provide a doctor’s note.
The answer to "why does everything suck now" almost ALWAYS goes back to "venture capital." Which goes back to "a lot of people have too much money and don't know what to do with it." Which goes back to: "We need to tax rich people more." It's like it's the solution to 99% of our problems!!

We really shouldn't stop with Paramount and WB. Disney shouldn't be able to own ABC, ESPN, AND Hulu. All of these conglomerates need to be broken up.
