On Tuesday, the Trump Admin announced they were ending the Medicare Part D subsidy program. Touching the third rail of politics is a heckuva strategy going into midterms (part D open enrollment starts 10/15). My latest analysis for @msnowreports.bsky.social. www.ms.now/opinion/trum...

Opinion | Trump’s Medicare change comes at a curious time

Less than three weeks before the midterm elections, America’s most reliable voting bloc will receive notice of higher healthcare costs.

With the Fauci hearing going as expected, read our free book, Coronavirus Politics! Pretty clear how little the US Fed govt did during early stages compared to other countries- lack of central messaging and action under Trump likely caused significant harm. That’s down to Trump, not Fauci.

The air is full of smoke, the food is full of parasites, and the water is full of data center bacteria but at least we stopped all that DEI children's cancer research!

One year ago today, Donald Trump signed into law a historic cut to the safety net — a 20% cut to SNAP and nearly $1 trillion cut from Medicaid. This month, you can tell CMS to pare back to draconian nature of its proposed rule on work requirements, which goes beyond OBBBA www.cms.gov/newsroom/fac...

Off the top of my head, I can think of a half dozen instances when respiratory disease prophylaxis (adenovirus, flu, Bicillin) was stopped and outbreaks hit right on cue. Lost training and readiness, hospitalizations, sometimes even deaths. Preventable.

I used to do respiratory disease surveillance as an epidemiologist for the Army. Trainees at Basic come from all over the country, bringing local germs with them. They live, train and sleep in close quarters, under huge physical strain. Training camps are famous as outbreak hotspots. 1/2

Dear media, You don't have to say "E Jean Carroll accused Trump of defamation and rape." You can say "Trump defamed and raped E Jean Carroll." It's been adjudicated. Thank you

helen lewis has an article in the atlantic today begging everyone to read discworld and I am going to suggest she start by rereading monstrous regiment and think about how that might apply to trans issues

This sort of bs is why I left Kent. 40% of the nearly 2m people in the county have no religion. 49% are Christian. But white nationalism has always been strong there and it’s a perfect breeding ground for Trump style right wing populism.

This is an obvious step backwards for inclusive local democracy. Council business should not exclude people on the basis of religion or belief. Kent is not a Christian county. The Council’s own Census analysis shows that fewer than half of residents identify as Christian.

I recently had the opportunity to chat with @socio-steve.bsky.social about the scope & findings of my book Coverage Denied, which came out today. I had a lot to say, so it turned into a 2-part series that spans the patient and physician experiences of ins barriers. open.substack.com/pub/roosevel...
