Political science, central banks, critical macrofinance.

If students are simply uninterested in the core bargain of a class like this, it’s hard to know what to do. You teach the material because you think it’s important they know it; they don’t give a shit, but want the credential; and the university wants their money. Your main option is “pretend”.

woof ≈80% of assignments this summer term have essentially been just raw chatgpt/claude output, including assignments that required designing stuff in illustrator/affinity/canva. The battle is lost for asynchronous online courses.

Looks like Frederiksen - having resisted for two terms - will also lower the corporate income tax in this new coalition. That means every single Danish PM since Poul Schlüter (1982-93) will have lowered it.

Not to panic, friends. Off-balance-sheet liabilities only ever impact firm balance sheets during crises, such as those triggered by systematically mispriced valuations, faulty risk models, and opaque cross-exposures, so we'll probably be fine.

If the disease is susceptibility to wealth and power perhaps the treatment is limits on wealth and power. Or are we going to carry on being intensely relaxed about all this?

Again, the real reason investors are not shifting away from 🇺🇸/the dollar is <math>. There is no place for everyone, in the aggregate, to go. There simply are not enough non-dollar safe assets. There <could> be. But we're talking <years> and huge policy reform, not months: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

I’m sorry that economists don’t read or cite other disciplines & feel like they can “discover” new topics without reading the existing literature - something they would never tolerate in the other direction. But there are huge piles of books & articles about “geoeconomics” in IPE since the 1970s.
