This is quite literally what "media literacy" is, and I'm sad how many people lack it. You can't really enjoy a piece of media without understanding the media in question, what it's making calls to, both in-universe and out, and accepting it for what it is. Those who can't just complain. Nonstop.

-bitterness to as many people as they possibly can. Because if they aren't happy, nobody can be happy. They must be correct, they must be the smartest. But their attitude forbids them the joy and enthusiasm to actually want to learn about shit like lore or read any stories. It's really quite sad.
I think the sad thing is that they've beaten the joy out of the things they liked because they can't recognise it's their circumstance has changed. So now they just kind of drift between other things trying to find that magical perfect franchise that'll make them feel good while spreading their-
