Administrative decisions like this are what is causing major environmental damages that we are actively seeing take place now within our lifetimes and will continue to affect those who come after. When we lose historical native sites like this, we are also losing a piece of our natural ecosystems.

chaco canyon is an astronomically important historical site. its a miracle its still in the condition it is. for something of the scale of chaco canyon to be lost would be devestating to, for one thing, archeological research, but also for the hopi and pueblo people. *please* submit a comment.

It's also the last certified dark sky in the US. They've been trying to do this for years now and are trying to slide this in while everyone is distracted. It's a magical place no matter your culture and losing it to capital would be an incredible loss.

This is near where I live, this area is considered sacred ground by various tribes in the area. I have filed complaints with state, federal and local officials. Please, please, spread this around. Not only is it a national park, it's also significant to indigenous history and culture!
