Even if Amy and Vivek felt the same about the rights of trans Ohioans (they don’t), I’m curious why other policy differences wouldn’t matter. Why their positions on education, Medicaid expansion, free speech (drag show ban!), public benefits, voting rights, and immigration are outside the purview.

In some races like Ohio governors race, it would be. It would make no meaningful difference to trans people for a Republican to win. The worst policies are enacted over veto by a Republican Governor. Voting for the transphobic Dem is picking the executioner.

We're not saying vote for the Republican. We're saying don't vote for the Dem espousing anti trans rhetoric and policies. If Dems want to win by throwing us under the bus, they can do so without our votes. Votes are not an entitlement. They make their policy decisions and we vote accordingly.

Ok follow this logic to its endpoint. Dems lose without your votes, so they have no incentive to listen to you ever again. Dems win without your votes, so they have no incentive to listen to you ever again. Of course in reality Dems will still stand with trans rights despite agitators like you.

I advocate for withholding your vote from the leading anti-trans Dems, the ones calling us biological males and/or declaring they will be in favor of healthcare restrictions. So of course Will, who I have never had beef with, compares our anger to a cult and drives extreme harassment my way.

I do really wish people would at least acknowledge that these candidates aren’t doing this for no reason. Being flaky on trans rights in red states is good electoral politics. Literally every piece of evidence says this. It’s fine if that’s cowardly to some, but it’s not for no reason.

Man you’ve gotta mute or block the idiots. I completely understand disagreeing with Talarico, but anyone presenting him as some kind of monster is absolutely unhinged and their judgement isn’t worth your time. Most of us on here are trans advocates. Republicans will watch them die. Stop them.

There are only a handful of Democrats in the country saying these things, and I absolutely agree it makes sense for trans people in their districts to feel like they’re stuck with bad options. But pretending this represents the entire party or means it’s better for Republicans to win is A LIE.
