Here's what I think about when I think back on 9/11. The attack happened on the watch of a Republican president who had been warned, repeatedly & explicitly, that an attack was coming. He dismissed those warnings.

Still argumentative, but also cannot give another shred of resources to Elno. Hopefully curating feeds is easier here than that cesspool.
These promises for $5000, $5000, $2000; straight out of "It Can't Happen Here", another story that was supposed to be cautionary and not a script.
As this administration props up Rubio as it's next leader (that's what it feels like they're doing) remember he sat idly by while we wholesale fucked up the Iran thing. Among many other abdications of his authority and responsibility.
i encourage all of you, regardless of your age, to not take this shit advice

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

It's too bad that the younger generations will have to suffer the consequences of the policy decisions made by baby boomers, particulary as taxes will rise and Social Security will evaporate. archive.ph/6yXrd
The rest of the US now knows how it feels to be a Cowboys fan. 🤔😜
I have no idea how to process this loss. I need to chat with someone who's used to losing, but I don't have any friends who are Texas A&M fans.
Great American State Fair evacuation was a disaster and took over an hour. There is no structure or order outside the venue, even as people crowd and try to line back up. People are upset and saying they’re going home. No matter what happens now, today is ruined for a lot of families who came here.
As a gringo, I never thought, not once, about the word construction of "Netherlands". Until a Spanish speaker said Paises Bajos. Just a random musing.

A bike planner died on his community’s streets, and I wish that this was a unifying moment for the transpo practitioner community to come together to demand networks of all-ages facilities for people on bikes. Not ITS or robocars or bulbouts. All-ages bike facilities. RIP Riley O’Neil.

NEW: lots of you have sent me this article asking for my thoughts. I’ve been able to confirm it. Just as she says, Trump’s administration is staging vote.gov on a non-government cloudflare account under the EOP where there’s no oversight or accounting. 1/ open.substack.com/pub/thedreyd...
A POSITIVE THOUGHT FOR TODAY Honestly, voting is like taking a bus. If there isn't one going exactly to your destination, you don't stay at home and sulk—you take the one going closest to where you want to be. We can vote better than they can cheat.
In South America, where voting is compulsory, it's defeated by protest (i.e., blank ballot) voting. Forcing indifferent people to do a thing doesn't get to the root of what you're trying to solve.
I think America needs to pass a law mandating voting. Other Democratic countries do it. It should be REQUIRED for every person to place a vote as their civic duty. Too many people checkout of politics, because they think it doesn't affect them. Making people vote would make them be involved.

I'm starting to get sort of okay at this pizza thing. Pizza steel (put it on your gift list), and letting the oven preheat full blast for about an hour are essential.
This is extremely comedic, not least because he’s talking about competence and preparation.
lol this is not going well for Hegseth
When a federal agency tasked with protecting all Americans decides to mandate a specific religious worldview, it ceases to protect democracy and begins to threaten it.
This is amazing - @kevinolearytv 🤡 is fearmongering about Chinese agents opposing his giant Utah data center… but it’s 2 young local girls in Utah who hilariously call him (and his “dumbass hat”) out👇🏽 Full: www.instagram.com/reel/DYU074V...

@cmcharlesallen.bsky.social what's going on with the bicycles around east capitol? traffic is snarled, and police are directing drivers onto other roads that are also blocked near Lincoln Park...

I really feel like we are at the dawn of an age in which truth, the simple facts of the matter, will be more valuable than ever and also less accessible than ever.
