Why are memoirs lyyyying to me? I know for the purposes of entertainment some parts might be condensed and some people amalgamated, but if I wanted a smooth narrative I would be reading fiction! If you're going to completely remove or change the context of key parts just do "based on a true story"

This is fascinating (although also very sad) article. I think LRC was the first trans man I ever (knowingly) saw, and I was kind of bowled over by what his images said about the potential of transition. (Content warning: the article does discuss LRC's self-inflicted death)

"Lots of trans guys I’ve talked to have had a Loren Rex Cameron story, and this is mine …” www.thebeliever.net/looking-for-...

There are obvious humanitarian issues with harsh sentences and the death penalty, but one of the more subtle problems is that they give the illusion of justice. And this distracts people from looking at and addressing the underlying causes

True crime is a fraught genre, but a little tip that will improve your experience is that any time a cop describes the suspect as "smart", you're about to encounter some of the most bumbling criminal moves you have ever heard of, followed by an absolute mess of an investigation

After a lifetime of never being able to see a magic eye puzzle, I finally figured it out last year, and they were horribly oversold?I was expecting some psychedelic wonder image and instead it was silhouettes the whole time? Why would you deceive me like this

Sometimes positioning the argument in the greater framework also takes away any possibility that the minority group HAS done something wrong. Are trans women causing problems in bathrooms? No, it's that we're misogynistically policing womanhood to uphold patriarchy

Personally I think it's fine to point out that policies intended to harm minorities also harm the majority! People respond to messages rooted in self-interest and it also emphasizes that we're all connected. "Trans bathroom bans harm cis people" isn't the only argument, but it's true & worth noting

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Skydivers alert emergency crews, assist after plane crashes near East Troy airport

Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.

Fully electric aviation has some major challenges (mostly: batteries are heavy and don't get lighter as they get used up) but I love the idea of decreasing aircraft emissions through a hybrid approach, perhaps as a step toward new, clever solutions for fully electric air transport in the future.

The world’s largest battery-electric aircraft flew for the first time on the 12th of August, a 27-minute test flight over upstate New York that cost about five dollars in electricity. Heart Aerospace’s 30-seat prototype is a big step toward a commercial version. buff.ly/i3f0PhR #ShareGoodNewsToo
