Those stars overhead shine bright like they're golden, and I can't stand it.

Days after a WNBA team co-ownwer was suspended for confronting anti-trans activists courtside, Cheryl Reeve of the Minnesota Lynx wore a "Trans Kids Belong" shirt while facing down Sophie Cunningham's team, the Fever. The Lynx won 108-100. Subscribe to support our journalism.

The crowd was equally indignant, reportedly booing whenever Cunningham touched the ball.

Basically the height of caricature at this point: Israel is demanding that as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, it be allowed to continue attacking Gaza.

🚨Israel has formally objected to three provisions in the Board of Peace approved roadmap for Gaza, including demands that would allow it to continue striking the territory, prevent Hamas’s collected weapons from remaining under the NCAG’s control, and exclude Qatar and Turkey from verifying compliance, Haaretz reported.

🔸 Continued Israeli attacks:
Israel is demanding continued freedom to carry out strikes across Gaza even after the agreement takes effect. A source familiar with the matter told Haaretz that “Israel demands freedom to strike areas of the Gaza Strip.”

remember how Riley Gaines’ swimming coach raped a bunch of her teammates? then when her career path became TV Nazi she defended him and he claimed he was being targeted for standing up against trans women in sports? anyway she cares deeply about women and girls being safe.

The TOS being so strict that they control you offsite is the problem; sites like Patreon and Kofi have offsite clauses too. The social criminalization of the suggestion that somewhere you might be doing nsfw is a problem. It's branding a person as obscene and we need consumers to stand up for us

a bunch of popular ASMR artists lost their channels forever this week, after YouTube cited them for violating terms against "sexually gratifying" content: www.404media.co/youtube-asmr...

i feel like post one is going to throw a grenade into both sides of this discussion i am sorry i am just serious about that family and national abolition stuff. i'm gonna go back to playing video game

prison abolition is the component of a world of family abolition and abolition of the nation, etc. this is sort of why it mustn't coexist with liberal or reform demands, insofar as it would be an ongoing part of the project of the genuine transformation of the planet & social relations

one must be serious about communism being a planetary-scale project (social-technological) involving all sentient beings (ecological) that necessitates the synthesis and sublation of the local and the universal rather than leaving these two disjoint, etc

prison abolition is a worthy goal, the important caveat in this is that "family/kinship systems" and "local communities" are generally carceral institutions themselves closer to prisons rather than alternatives to prisons

The GCs won on this and they're still miserable. Complaining that the apology didn't go far enough and that Amnesty sent a separate email to their supporters apologizing to them. No matter what you do, you will never appease them. They're a miserable group of bigots.

Amnesty International has now issued a public groveling apology to JK Rowling's organization and has pulled her another report documenting the anti rights platform of gender critical organizations. www.amnesty.org.uk/latest/an-ap...

Anyone who thinks an Amy Acton victory won’t convince Democrats to adopt anti-trans stances should read any related thread on /r/Ohio. The number of liberals and Democrats that have now fully adopted trans sports bans being good in Ohio is unreal.

1. In the aftermath of forcing the Ohio Progressive Caucus to delete criticism of Amy Acton for calling trans girls "boys," progressives were promised a meeting with Acton. Now, we have learned she didn't show up, and kicked trans people out of the meeting. Subscribe to support our journalism.

1. Amnesty International has withstood threats from death squads and dictators. But it could not stand up to JK Rowling and the anti-trans movement she finances. It has apologized for calling those groups "anti-rights" after legal threats. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Amnesty International UK Caves To JK Rowling, Issues Apology For Calling Anti-Trans Groups "Anti-Rights"

The organization has stood up to dictators and death squads, but Rowling and the UK's anti-speech laws were apparently too much.

The WNBA is known for being one of “the most LGBT-inclusive professional sports leagues." But when Seattle Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton confronted anti-trans activists who showed up to a game, they suspended her instead of the transphobes. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Anti-trans provocateurs bankrolled by the right were sitting courtside with signs praising WNBA player Sophie Cunningham. Celeste Keaton reportedly confronted them.

I love that our current political moment of bile and shit smeared across the discourse means that the most banal, milquetoast liberal inclusivity is increasingly starting to look like an unattainable goal unto itself rather than a stepping stone to actual progress. That's a reactionary victory.

Seattle Storm co-owner suspended for 5 home games. The WNBA has chosen a side. Now, transphobic protesters have an incentive to goad players, team staff, and fans into reacting to get them kicked out or suspended. sports.yahoo.com/wnba/article...

Storm minority owner Celeste Keaton reportedly suspended from 5 home games, fined after incident with Sophie Cunningham fans

The Storm's majority owner released a statement apologizing for the incident.

Oh, so those girls at the Seattle Storm game were being obnoxious the entire time trying to provoke people and filming the reactions for content. Of course.

A screenshot of a text post on a dark background. The text reads in full:
"I sat right in front of two of the women ‘supporting Sophie’ and a few rows behind all their daughters in the front row behind the basket. They all had anti-trans shirts on. Could hear them talking the whole game and they were desperate for a confrontation. Literally said at one point “oh I really hope someone says something to me” after she screamed as loud as she could every time Sophie touched the ball. At another point she said she’s never even been to a WNBA game.
They were arguing with security through the entire game and made sure to record themselves every time, not sure what they were arguing with them about. And at the end of the game one of the girls said something to a guy, he responded and the girl started running at him through the aisles. The older women finally got what they wanted and ran over screaming with their phones out already recording.
Also overheard them talking about how they strategically positioned themselves to get as much time on the Tv broadcast as possible and something about a podcast they are trying to drive people to."

The racial dynamics around this couldn't be any clearer. The way these people try to make Caitlyn Clark out to be the great white hope for women's basketball is disgusting. They turn fouls and player scraps into a race war dynamic. I'm frankly sick of it. It's ruining the league I love to watch.

A third of the active players in the league are LGBTQ. This is very clearly a call to purge queer Black women from the league. It's absolutely disgusting.

A screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro). The main text of the post reads: "So, the WNBA has a choice: it can be a female basketball league with stars for whom young girls can root. Or it can be a militantly LGBTQ+-/ league predominantly filled with annoying and obnoxious and entitled players, none of whom would be able to take a decent public school varsity 14-year-old boy one-on-one. Their choice. Plus, Fauci takes the Fifth, the latest on Iran, and why a country song is burning up the charts."
Below the text is a truncated link to a Spotify episode and an attached podcast thumbnail image. The thumbnail features a headshot of Ben Shapiro smiling on the left, and a female basketball player wearing a dark blue "INDIANA 8" jersey pointing directly forward on the right. The background is stylized in red and orange tones, showing faint images of other young women holding signs and phones. Text on the thumbnail includes "Ep: 2475" written vertically along the left edge, a signature, and the name "Ben" in large red letters at the bottom left.
