When I interviewed Damian McCarthy for the premiere of his film HOKUM, I asked about his influences in learning the craft of the scare. Damian said not a month has gone by in the last fifteen years that he hasn’t rewatched John Carpenter’s THE THING ⭐️

It's a triply terrific high horror holy day with the birthdays of horror greats SA Cosby (@blacktopkid.bsky.social), @nadiabulkin.bsky.social, and @kealanpatrickburke.bsky.social! Happy birthday to all, and thanks for the terrifying tales!
Watching HELLRAISER 2022 while giving platelets at the Red Cross, then two-for-one slices at my favorite pizza shop is as good a night as you can wish for in Nashville, Tennessee 💪
This is the Nashville I know.
UPDATE — NASHVILLE: The 5 spot says they found the guy who defaced the Dolly mural and “he’s in a bad mental state” and they appear to be accepting his explanation and handling it with forgiveness and grace. www.instagram.com/p/DbmVcXJOcS...
I made a similar joke yesterday, but I guarantee someone at Neon really wants to call this BACKROADS. It's gonna get some comparisons to BACKROOMS, though it premiered over a year ago on the festival circuit, predating the current trends. Cool As fuck vibes driven cosmic horror. Highly recommended.
NEW POSTER - On August 21, IT ENDS. Only in theaters from NEON. Four friends post-college plans are derailed when a wrong turn traps them on a never-ending backroad.
Rewatching Ben Wheatley’s KILL LIST. This one scratches an itch few movies can reach.
This is about to start!

Our show about 2nd chances gets exactly that. 8/24, all 10 episodes of REVIVAL drop on Netflix! We designed this series to be binged and now a massive Netflix audience can see it the way we always envisioned (and TV-MA to boot!)
Epically fun evening with @cgolden.bsky.social and @stephengrahamjones.com — dozens of books in each of their repertoires, far more than the number of spices in their cooking cabinets. Thank you @boulderbookstore.bsky.social for hosting 🫶
If I made a horror film called OBSESSROOMS, could I possibly make a ton of money? 🎥 🍿
This is one of the few movies that actually scares me.
Rewatching AJ Annila’s SAUNA, a 2008 Finnish horror film @lairdbarron.bsky.social turned me onto. It’s not on streaming but you can ferret it out on physical media. Taut, frightening, and moody, with a liminal landscape. A really hidden gem of indie horror.
Our magnificent trio turns 24 today. My wife started a tradition of the kids getting selfies at their time of birth. Ashley moved to Dallas and we miss her; Mason and Aussie still live in town. The kids are bright and brilliant and close. Ever our pride & joy ❤️

Intros I Never Skip - Stephen Graham Jones
Before streaming, you couldn’t ever do this, could you? I do hit it a lot now, though. I guess because . . . I’ve seen it? I’ve seen it, it’s burned into my eyes, my heart, and I just want to get to t...

For the Sunday Morning Coming Down crowd... I interview horror greats Josh Malerman & Philip Fracassi about the experience and expectations of having their fiction adapted to film! Authors, this one's for you ⭐
You know that terrifying trailer for OTHER MOMMY, how it's based on a Josh Malerman book? And did you hear we're likely to have TWO movies next summer based on @pfracassi.bsky.social stories? Philip & Josh join me to talk film adaptations & what it means for an author's career! youtu.be/cKGu1gorC-k

If you’re a filmmaker who’s got a movie on Tubi, how much you making on that deal? DMs acceptable
Whoever said "Never meet your heroes" really picked the wrong fucking heroes.
