Sometimes I think it's worth stepping back and thinking about all the effort/energy that is going into integrating something literally called "artificial" into our education system. Like, it's in the name...

Once again, it’s not fair to any other Airbnb hosts anywhere that my mom had one and it was perfect in every way, all amenities and extras you wouldn’t even think about—she had them. And yes, I realize I’m a privileged princess.

Biometric login to your two-factor authentication, we don't recognize you on this device, enter your PIN to autofill your saved password...Just take everything, man, I don't even care anymore. This is no way to live.

Can anyone point to a moment in American history where “Instead of prosecuting these people who violated the law to serve their own political ends I think they should face no consequences so we can heal our divided nation” didn’t make things worse

Big move in curbing screen time in LA — banning computer use until second grade and then putting limits on screen time. My concern: Ss with disabilities and in need of intervention would get MORE I-ready … and that feels problematic (highest need should yield MORE *human* contact, not tech)

LAUSD Considers Banning Screens Until 2nd Grade

A draft plan being considered by Los Angeles Unified School District would ban screens for kindergarten and first grade students, and enforce screen time limits for higher grades later this year and n...

“Teach them some basics” when grown ass folks don’t even say please and thank you anymore. Children are sponges. Whatever we don’t like about them is an exact reflection of… YOU.

I hear you, but children are not becoming “EXTREMELY different” in isolation. Children mirror ecosystems. They are developing inside stressed families, overwhelmed school systems, economic instability with adults who are dysregulated, disconnected, and disrespectful. Children learn alongside us.

These new kids are EXTREMELY different but that still doesn’t absolve us from learning to communicate with them and doing our best to understand them, enough to teach them some basics. But respectfully. It’s a job that’s gotta be done.

One side is like “can we disenfranchise all the Black voters by this weekend” and the other is like gotta follow the rules that govern the rules that control the rulebook

Respectfully, this graph shows how the Supreme Court was lost. We cannot "vote harder" in order to overcome the will of the White US majority when white supremacy constantly changes its own rules. Understanding this helps you understand this country. decolonialatlas.wordpress.com/2020/11/06/w...

White Voters, 1964-2020

Distribution of white voters in presidential elections, 1964-2020. Democrats haven’t won the white vote in a presidential election since 1964. Election after election, it’s up to Black,…

COVID killed (and is still killing) over 1 million Americans and the long-term effects of (re)infection continue to impact tens of millions more, yet our response to COVID was framed as an overblown exaggeration. But now phones & #edtech are framed as a "legitimate" moral panic worth responding to!

It's definitely both/and. The emphasis on tech is the more popular narrative and (ironically?) more likely to push attention-grabbing headlines and bestsellers, while nobody has a #1 Amazon Bestseller about how schools need to be more responsive, understanding, & compassionate bc of long COVID...
