This felt like hallowed ground. A group of poor, self employed women met with Elaben Bhatt in this park on 12 April 1972. They formed the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA). Elaben planted this banyan tree on 12 April 2022 to celebrate SEWA’s 50th anniversary and planning the next 50 years.
