Insurers sometimes deny coverage citing lack of progress, labeling patients’ conditions as chronic. Yet if they do make progress, insurers have also used that to argue patients no longer need treatment. Doctors are left to walk a tightrope. (Published Dec. 2024)

Her Mental Health Treatment Was Helping. That’s Why Insurance Cut Off Her Coverage.

Providers, patients and even some federal judges say progress-based insurance denials harm patients at key moments of mental health treatment.

my favorite part of social media is when settlers ask for resources and labor and I willfully ignorantly (bc I know better) give in and their only response is to "like" what I said. not a reply, not a thank you, no meaningful conversation. pure extraction and on to the next-- just like a colonizer.

I desperately need a full-time job. Any moderately paying job. Want me to keep your lore and only come out after weeks to say "this is what soup is in your world"? Sure. Lock me in a closet and have me rewrite everything over and over again? Why not. ANYTHING.

Overall I liked Obsession The premise is nothing new. We've seen it before in multiple ways. But it is really well done & Inde Navarrette is so good! I enjoyed this take on the "be careful what you wish for" romantic horror story. If you heavily identify with or make excuses for Bear, seek help.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses

As a consultant & freelancer I try to be careful with public posts. But there has been a noticeable trend towards bigger companies backtracking on their efforts to repair, mitigate & prevent harms around racism, sexism & ableism in their lore, mechanics & games generally. It sucks.

For years, Microsoft had failed to fully explain how it protects sensitive information in the cloud as it hops from server to server. Given that and other unknowns, government reviewers couldn’t vouch for the tech’s security. It was approved anyway. (Published March)

Federal Cyber Experts Thought Microsoft’s Cloud Was “a Pile of Shit.” They Approved It Anyway.

A federal program created to protect the government against cyber threats authorized a sprawling Microsoft cloud product, despite the company’s inability to fully explain how it protects sensitive dat...

Y'all Chicago, Wisconsin and Indiana are getting brutalized today. They just upgraded a warning to 100 mph straight line wind gusts. That is NOT NORMAL. That's not even the tornadoes, floods and hail. Please be safe and take cover if you are in or near the storms.

Late to the signal boost party but also it’s important we don’t forget this. This room was my first EVER experience at PAX and 99% of the reason why that experience was so enjoyable, and now my first ever post on bsky is abt it getting gutted?? Unacceptable #SaveTheIntersection

With the nightmares for QTBIPOC in the United States right now, it is so so telling that @officialpax.bsky.social has decided that 2026 is the year to cut support and funding for The PAX Intersection & its PTI programs that made a PAX safer & life changing event for devs & attendees of color alike.

This week has been really really rough but once again games are out here keeping me going. Thank you to the casts and crews of Veils of Chicago and Network Z. My heart is so much lighter after enjoying some horror with you all back to back.
