my favorite part of social media is when settlers ask for resources and labor and I willfully ignorantly (bc I know better) give in and their only response is to "like" what I said. not a reply, not a thank you, no meaningful conversation. pure extraction and on to the next-- just like a colonizer.
mentorship is still a strange concept to me because every time I've asked ~senior~ folks what we should do in a given situation, their response has always been, "I dunno, figure it out."
If being called a settler is still activating, you've got some more work to do.
another reason this is so infuriating is people will get SO corny and unhinged telling women and people of color they need to remain in toxic disciplines. "oh but academia NEEDS you!!" while doing absolutely nothing to help neutralize the abuses those people suffer in those spaces.
I feel the same way about "leftist" as I do about "feminist." Very white. Very exclusionary. Very missing the plot.

Given how her ex's financial abuse of at least $183,364 over 6.5 years has further disabled her and limited her ability to afford to exist, she reinforces the necessity of this lifelong work of unpacking internalized ableism, which includes honouring her access needs.
