I started the practice of saving JPGs i like from artist I discover, slapping them in a lil folder named "Artist Name + Art Piece" and so whenever I go "why am i following soandso" I just open the folder and go "OH YEA HOLY FUCK THEY COOK YIPPEE

πŸ“£ ONTARIO! PLEASE GO OUT AND VOTE TODAY! πŸ“£ You interact with your municipal government more than any other level of government! People access municipal jurisdictions on average, 7X A DAY! It's sidewalks, garbage collection, parks, libraries, public transit, emergency services, child care, etc.

If the B.C. election result stings for you tonight, remember that this province once forced a majority government to back down on a tax it had just brought in. A new government still answers to the same people who hired it.

Nice people, long memories, sharp pencils: How a snap
election snapped back
by Tod Maffin β€’ FarAndWide.news

What just happened in B.C.? A massive political miscalculation built
on one defining characteristic of Canadian identity.

The left-leaning NDP party in B.C. were the government. They had a
majority, barely. They had two years left in their mandate. And their
leader, Premier David Eby, saw the opposition, the Conservatives,
in disarray. They'd lost their leader two days before, after 13 MLAs
left or got pushed out. They'd had four leaders in two years. So Eby decided to call a snap election. The official reason was to
get a stronger majority to deal with the trade war, but everyone
knew why it was really happening: To get an easy win, while the
Conservatives were busy in-fighting.

But Eby and the NDP apparently forgot that while Canadians are
nice, and polite, we are also world-class grudge holders. It
surprises people from outside Canada, but we are.
People in B.C. decided to send Eby a message. A landslide
Conservative majority. This political grudge-holding is a proud Canadian tradition. In
1990, Ontario's David Peterson called an election three years into a
95-seat majority. He lost 59 seats, and his own riding.
In 2021, Justin Trudeau called a snap election and got back almost
the exact Parliament he already had.
And B.C.? We're the black belts.

If you're in B.C. and you're concerned about the next four years, let
me take you back to 2009, when then Premier Gordon Campbell
said "No, he wouldn't put a harmonized provincial sales tax in."
Wasn't on his radar at all. Then he won, and guess what he did?But governments, even majority governments, don't act in isolation.
British Columbians organized, basically bullied him into resigning,
forced a referendum by petition, and killed the tax with almost 55 per
cent of the vote.

A new government still answers to the same stubborn, grudge-
holding people who hired it.

You can oppose anything you disagree with. You can organize. If the
Conservatives take away something you love, or implement something
you hate, remember: Campbell was barely two months into a fresh
majority when he announced the HST. He had four years of runway and
no opposition able to stop him, and voters still got rid of the tax.
You can absolutely slow down a bad bill, a hateful bill, a transphobic
bill.

Power is only ever on loan, and the lenders
remember every cent.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.
