This is very true! The issue here is more that Ehrlich's predictions were immediate, catastrophic, and wrong (his scenarios all take place in the years before 1985, and population growth continued at roughly the same pace as it had in the 1960s during this period).

The idea that it would be "eight billion and a flattening-out curve" was inconcievable.
