Climate, energy and all things interesting. Just transition and what it means for workers. Living in Puotila, Helsinki with wife and three kids. 🇫🇮🇪🇺 Working: www.sttk.fi/en

El-Sayed, Lawrence and McKinney all won progressive campaigns in Michigan last night by talking about climate and clean energy like it was a kitchen-table issue — because skyrocketing energy bills and endless wildfire smoke matter to people.

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

Increasingly seeing "it's too late, we failed" as an argument against climate action. But: a) While we haven't done nearly enough, we've made a lot of progress relative to the "just let fossil fuels rip" world of pre-2000; b) the more&faster we reduce climate pollution, the less bad things will get;

Autopomo selittää HS Visiolle, mistä on kyse.

I am endlessly fascinated by right wingers' obsession with Sparta. I can understand an initial vibes based appeal I guess - like if you opened the first page of a book on timocracy and were twelve. but the thing about history is you can find out what happened to those guys

Pete Hegseth: "We need our warriors to embrace the Spartan mindset" U.S. Military: *suffers crushing defeat to the Persians*

Mielestäni Hesarin ero ulkomaisiin laatulehtiin on kasvanut jo parikymmentä vuotta.

Alright, and now we use human lifetime to explain - once more - how climate change fuels wildfires. Next week, we‘ll have to explain - once more - how it affects droughts. Anything, just anything to prevent the actual discussion over what causes climate change.

Amazing graphic from @zekehausfather.com showing how human-caused warming is driving increasingly widespread wildfires like the one currently impacted air quality in the eastern U.S. That's a shot of the famous Art Museum from my window this morning. Normally the view is crisp.

The forest management argument, largely valid in a California pine stand, mostly falls apart when you move it a couple of thousand kilometers north. Today's Climate Brink post provides in-depth details as to why: www.theclimatebrink.com/p/canadas-bo...
