The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

These academies are merely the latest iteration of Britain's national culture of child abuse passed off as education. Like most things, it's a top down phenomenon with the upper classes infecting the rest of society with their sadism & taste for violence against the vulnerable & powerless

Call me authoritarian, I don't care, but I don't think this should be a consumer choice. I wouldn't force people to become vegans. I don't think that would work even if we tried. But if we leave it as a choice we will not be able to both treat animals better and reduce climate impact.
