Apparently communism will be prevented in USA by a president who does what he's told by a North Korean Stalinist.
Beautifully, bright, Venus once again in close proximity to the moon
Just wrapped up a 55-hour radar loop of Hurricane #Lala passing by #Hawaii. Its track was parallel and close to the island chain, so it managed to affect every island without ever making landfall. bmcnoldy.earth.miami.edu/tropics/radar/
Global sea surface temperatures are now just 0.02C away from setting new all time records. Average temperatures have reached 21.16C with virtually no where on the planet below average. El Nino will continue to develop over the coming months pushing temperatures higher.
Two thirds of articles about the wildfires didn't mention climate change. Once again parts of our media are failing at the most basic part of their job - reporting the truth. uk.themedialeader.com/two-thirds-o...
Two-thirds of UK news articles about wildfires this summer haven't mentioned climate change
Analysis from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit adds to concerns that national newspapers are failing to link this summer's extreme weather to climate change and the net-zero policies necessary to mitigate its drastic effects.

It remains a complete mystery as to why Farage refused to go to the Clacton by-election declaration. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Sending love to Jason Arday's family and friends. He was subject of sustained and malicious media attacks which were no doubt more vicious because he was Black. We must now reflect on the impact of a trial by some of the media and online on someone under extreme pressure.
Farage is back - time to answer the five million pound question.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but an economy controlled by a handful of oligarchs isn't a "free market."
Ten of us met up to watch the eclipse here in #Rivenhall under perfect conditions. Bonus was spotting Venus to the left of the Sun - surprisingly easy to see in the 15 minutes or so of the deepest part of the eclipse, as the sky went deep blue.
Revealed: just 20 out of of 6,600 Defra staff working on climate adaptation, as UK burns in fifth heatwave of this summer - FOI request by me @andyburnham.bsky.social needs to level with the country about the climate crisis & set out radical plan to tackle it 🧵 www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Just 20 of 6,600 Defra staff working on climate adaptation amid drought and wildfires
Exclusive: England ‘desperately unprepared’ for effects of crisis including water shortages and heatwaves

All set for the eclipse. We are going to project the Sun as safe way of observing, also best due to a having a group of people coming to watch with us. Tested, and a few sunspot groups were visible.
And a good way to get ready was watching Sir Brian May on Newsnight this evening talking about the eclipse.
I'd like to wish everybody a very safe good night. Not long until the biggest astronomical event of the year. Good weather luck and I hope all the eclipse watchers see something special :) 🔭 🧪 🎨 ☀️ #astrophotography #SciArt #photography #Sun #Solar #Eclipse #Solar #SolarEclipse
Reform are sub-zero when it comes to science.
Reform’s leaders peddle rhetoric around climate change denial. Their councils act on it. Last month, Reform-run Suffolk County Council scrapped its climate emergency declaration. Now, as a wildfire tears through the county, we are seeing exactly why climate action should not be abandoned.
Hot one tomorrow but very much a dry heat the easterly breeze which kept London cooler today will ease probably 33C in west London. The hottest spots probably out west near Severn Estuary and into Somerset outside chance of 35C.
Britain’s beautiful beaches deserve better than this. It’s time to bring water companies into public ownership and run them for people and planet, not private profit.
The 5th heatwave has arrived. Temperatures will likely peak on Thursday across the UK around 36-38°C but it’ll be a hot week across England, Wales and much of France. This summer has broken virtually every record there is to break.
Impressive spatial extent to “strong” heat on Thursday most major English cities look to hit 35C. I would say most likely we will fall shy of 38C but I would say 37C is quite probable. Not far from August record of 38.5C set on this day 23 years ago.
Hypothetical case pre-heatwave but if the summer finished today summer 2026 would be 1.3C hotter than next warmest 2018 in London. I cannot convey in words how extraordinary and perhaps alarming that is averaged across 3-month period.
