James Who Lives in Queens

I will tell you about myself at another time.

BLUMENTHAL: Judge Cronan, you're already on the district court. Who won the 2020 election? CRONAN: Joseph Biden received the majority of electoral votes B: You have nothing to lose. You have a lifetime appointment, and yet you're unwilling to state the simple fact that Biden won the 2020 election

'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

📌Susan Collins is voting "no" on the repulsive Blanche because she has been given political cover by Thune. Her vote doesn't matter. This isn't a heroic decision, it is pure politics, and whether anybody wants to admit it or not it's how she has survived like a parasite in that chamber for 30 years.

𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚🚨 "While he was detained, he lost 30 lbs. He had high blood pressure-he had diabetes. They refused him his medication...& I'm going to grow up without a father.. #ICE tried to cover up the fact that they killed him...They're just Heartless monsters." —preteen daughter of Edwin Lopez-Cornejo

He's losing words. Anyone with a parent or loved one suffering from dementia will recognize this pattern. Wen he says "moving cameras," it's because he can't recall the word "videos" and so he's stating the component parts as best he can. E.g., a "camera" is involved and the images are "moving"

Trump: "We have photographs or tapes -- like moving cameras, right? -- where people are on the side cutting it with a box knife."

This is a story about the President and several of his hand-picked appointees all committing crimes and blatantly lying to the public while stealing public funds and abusing the criminal justice system, but the NYTimes describes the situation like they're recapping a soap opera.

Another example of the problem with the fixation with Trump’s putative emotions: here a story about the Trump administration’s corruption, incompetence, and venality is framed as one about Trump’s “wrath.” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/u...

Americans’ Social Security benefits will have to be cut by roughly a quarter in six years due to depleted funds, according to a June report from the Social Security Board of Trustees. That’s months sooner than the group had estimated in 2025. https://to.pbs.org/4f39DL0

"We hug. And, you know, I had four or five guys that gave me a kiss on the cheek. I kissed a couple of guys on the cheek. People can think what they want to think. I don't give a f*ck." - Ray Knight on his 1986 Mets teammates

this is incredibly abnormal and scary. always a possibility this decade, extremely bizarre to experience in real time. we’ve got important stuff loaded in the car, not going anywhere at the moment because by all accounts traffic is already very bad www.spokesman.com/stories/2026...

On Monday evening, Haitian workers at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport burst into tears as they were asked to turn in their badges. Marlene, 47, a single mother who has worked as an airport janitor for 12 years, said she has been sick to her stomach.

Airports, nursing homes and schools brace for disruption without Haitian workers

The Trump administration and courts are at odds over whether about 350,000 Haitians have officially lost humanitarian protections, but employers are already letting workers go.

I mean this is fundamentally one of the big reasons why data centers have no local constituency: they don’t actually create a lot of jobs they’ll employ some folks during construction but the actual day to day operation of a data center really doesn’t need many people, especially given its size

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 5d ago

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

I am thinking if all the orc doctors and nurses and hospital administrators and surgeons and anesthesiologists and physician assistants and nurse practitioners who voted for tRump and how they threw their patients, communities, and colleagues under the bus because they are selfish and racist.
