We took Title IX away from little girls today and nearly took birthright citizenship too, and our leaders are calling it a victory. I wish the US Senate could show up with even 1/100 the energy of the average public school mom in Minnesota.

Reading some things, and I can’t help but wonder how the shrinking availability of grants, increased need for funding given economic shifts, and NSF promotion of AI is exacerbating the usual cycle of overly optimistic jumping onto the bandwagon of new tech with ill-conceived ideas?

Was not prepared for the number of students who cry in my office as a professor. Not in a grade grubbing way, but just in a life is hard way. And being the professor who is understanding & open with my own mental health & disabilities means I think I get more of it than the avg? I am Le tired.

I think the problem with higher education is the fact that universities are being run like corporations, with all the shite that comes along with it, without the actual manpower or higher pay that make corporate work tolerable.

Sometimes I think I really missed the boat on switching to DH from Education like 10 years ago when I was working for Center for DH at UCLA & playing around with mapping archives of yearbooks/student leaders at a HS in east LA with census results to 'see' diversity in community & educational spaces

One under-discussed benefit of studying young kids learning through play is that no-matter how stressful the week is, someone has data with kids doing hysterical and / or amazing things to brighten the day and remind us why we do this work.
