I’ve told people this privately but will say it here. The biggest problem when you look at MLS rosters isn’t the usage of allocation money. It’s the fact that the max budget charge is capped at a certain amount and your average annual budget charge can’t exceed it year after year

Real doubts that Iloski is offside there from that replay. If they drew the lines in MLS, I think they would show he’s not.

I am a Seb Berhalter guy. 100%. And he has skills outside of set pieces, especially striking the ball from anywhere around the box. But from a passing perspective, he's actually only elite at one thing around the box. 1/

Interesting insights here, and most of it passes the eye test. Going to be interesting to see how the second half shakes out. Knowing this, I’m even more concerned for the Whitecaps. Berhalter was the triple threat in these regards.

I'm up near Seattle and have a lot of Sounders followers (thank you!). I don't watch every game, but I watch *a lot* of Sounders games. This isn't perfect, but I think it tells a lot. The defense has been a growing problem.

I got a question about how I came up with the speed-of-play buckets. In 2021, for Where Goals Come From analysis, I created these from equally dividing shots into three buckets based on ASA's forward meters-per-second velocity measurement. I use the same bucket values today as I did back then.

I don’t have a real rooting interest here, but I think I’ll start rooting for Argentina to win via own goal without a shot for the chaos.

Ref looks like he’s wearing an LAFC kit.

Oyarzabal really needed to play the immediate through ball there. Holding it required something more special and gave Argentina time to recover.
