can i be frank and say the post 2010s turn of "this character is not explicitly queer & trans unless they turn to the camera and directly say their identity" which while coming from positive intentions of explicit representation which is Good has sort of had the downside of queer/trans erasure

anyway i need to watch the circus show ig but in light of all that i've been left thinking about how the prevalence towards "we're all just playing with dolls, let people have fun, all headcanons are valid" is positioning incuriosity as a Better and Purer form of enjoyment than critical analysis
