Two hours into the committee hearing, people could speak briefly in support or opposition to any of the 300 bills, kind of a free-for-all. Two adoptees from California Alliance for Adoptee Rights urged that SB 381 be moved to the Suspense File, which is the next step. I think that's all for today!

Update: SB 381 will be heard by Assembly Appropriations on August 5th! 🥚💙 This is the last committee stop before a full Assembly floor vote, expected around August 17-19th. Not law yet, but every vote so far has been unanimous or nearly so. We're closer than we've ever been.
It seems the US learned the wrong lessons from the Holocaust. Instead of supporting Israel right or wrong, we should offer protection to civilians fleeing violence everywhere as was not done for Jews fleeing Europe in the 1940s. Also: don't support wars of vengeance and address US antisemitism.
