Front-end dev. Enjoys nerdy stuff, cars, cooking, tinkering etc. UK based. jamesbasoo.com

👋 I'm looking for work! 15+ years of frontend dev, design engineering, and leadership. TypeScript, Astro, React, Next, Node, you name it. I'm based in Berlin and I've helped tons of startups with their products (and other problems). I've worked remotely with US companies for 4+ years.

🚨 Cool Job Alert! Are you: - a front-end dev (Sass, Vanilla JS, React) - based in Austria / Vienna - ideally with some backend knowledge (Python, Django, APIs) - looking for work in a small, dedicated, remote team? Let's talk! (reposts for reach appreciated)

A good cautionary tale for when someone claims that trusting data analysis done with an LLM is good because it’s “objective.” In this example, Copilot apparently decided to ignore the data it was given and just run with all the subconscious biases its (human-made) training data inevitably gave it.

"Based on the dataset you shared, US and UK responses differ mainly in tone, intensity, and wording style, even though they express similar emotional states" New post on what happened when I got Copilot to do some data analysis: kucharski.substack.com/p/real-signa...

I really wish Apple would allow me (Android user) to mark my wife's Airtags as safe and not keep notifying me that I'm being followed. Better yet, just make them work on Android!

Google's Circle to Search has just become incredibly useful to me. I've just been added to my wife's family group chat and, while imperfect, the screen translation lets me quickly understand the gist of the Finnish conversation. I'm not sure I could use a phone without this now.

Video game developers: not every gamer is sitting six inches away from their screen. Some of us game in our living rooms where the TV is several meters away from where we're sitting. Please include the option to enlarge onscreen text.

My contract is ending at the end of February and so I’d like to find a new role ASAP. I am a senior-level design systems developer / design technologist / front-of-the-frontend developer that specializes in web accessibility. I work remotely from my home in Winnipeg, Canada. 🇨🇦 Shares appreciated!

I’m not a big user of BlueSky (yet), but if anyone sees this I’m looking for work. I’m a front-end developer, with a focus on low-carbon, design-led, accessible, websites — often using Astro and headless CMSs like Storyblok. I’m open to freelance or possibly the right perm role 🤞

I don't suppose anyone has collated a list of good front-end or web conferences worth attending somewhere? Ideally with information such as dates and ticket prices.
