Genuinely a choice to give the son of a billionaire column space to argue for him to further consolidate the media, especially given the pretty abysmal track record of on journalism he has already implemented at CBS

David Ellison: The Critics Are Wrong About My Politics

🤑 We pay. You pay. Palantir doesn’t. A new report finds that #Palantir is paying little to no corporate tax in Europe while expanding its influence over public services, policing, defence and national security. 💲 Public money in. Almost no tax out. Read the report: www.epsu.org/article/pala...

Palantir pays almost no corporate tax in Europe while benefitting from public contracts: new report

A new report reveals that Palantir is paying little to no corporate taxes in Europe while building massive profits and share value off the back of public contracts.

On the same day that David Ellison claims he's not putting his finger on the scale, there's this: "CBS’s 60 Minutes had the scoop on Jeffrey Epstein’s sketchy financials—before the Bari Weiss–run network fired the reporter fronting the investigation."

The New Republic@newrepublic.com · 2d ago

Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS

The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

It's tomorrow: New report on #Palantir's tax affairs EPSU & CICTAR are publishing a report on how Palantir's global tax structure drains funding for public services. 🚨Spoiler: They pay almost no corporate tax in Europe. Wanna be among the first to read it? Sign up here👇🏾 forms.gle/ARRMSva13Cc5...

We should never forget how the BBC has changed this country by giving endless airtime to Nigel Farage and other rightwing extremists, while shutting out progressive voices.

And why is #r4today giving (yet again) such prominence to a hair-brained scheme that has little chance to ever be implemented? A GE is unlikely soon and the threat of Reform winning it is apparently receding. What is the justification for legitimising it?

Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.

Michigan will provide another crucial test of whether progressives can not only keep up their winning streak in safe-blue seats but also break through in battlegrounds crucial for control of Congress. The stakes for the Democratic Party are huge.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Waarom moet Zomergasten weg? 280.000 kijkers gemiddeld over drie uur voor Nasrah Habiballah is toch een uitstekend kijkcijfer? Dit is geen commerciële maar een culturele beslissing. Dumbing down.

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

"Nothing Moves the Needle." For me, this is one of the most successful attempts to explain what's happened to the fourth estate as Trump and his movement try to wreck it. The essay is long, but worth it for the way writer Craig Unger @craigunger.bsky.social redescribes the crisis in journalism.

@noupside.bsky.social @jayrosen.bsky.social @froomkin.bsky.social The ground journalism was built to stand on stopped being solid under everyone at the same time. Find out why investigative reporting can't touch Trump the way Watergate touched Nixon! craigunger.substack.com/p/nothing-mo...
