History Lesson. We have done this before. Humans have transitioned entire energy systems: - Burn wood - Burn whale oil (just ask New Bedford and Nantucket) - Burn coal - Burn coal gas a/k/a manufactured gas - Burn oil - Burn natural gas Let's dial back burning cause our planet is cooking.
Gov McKee's idea (& budget) to delay moving from gas to solar, wind & battery storage is the worst idea to lower energy cost/rates for RI. This report shows that not only the world but also most of the US is moving towards renewables b/c they are less expensive than gas, oil & coal.
You cannot blockade or blow up the wind and sun.
If we stay any longer on gas and even invest into new pipelines, RI Energy and the fossil fuel industry will reap the benefits while the ratepayers pay for it. We need to stay the course on the Renewable Energy Standard & produce energy from natural sources that will not run out like solar and wind.
