"I know Newport Buzz isn’t exactly ProPublica. But even by the loose standards of today’s online info ecosystem, this was glaringly non-rigorous stuff." Great stuff by @phileil.bsky.social about climate denial propaganda making its way into the news here in #RhodeIsland.

For my friends at @ecorinews.bsky.social, I wrote an op-ed about Newport Buzz's decision to publish climate propaganda from the Heartland Institute.

As we approach the Sept 9 primary, bringing back this piece from @roselund.bsky.social on why @dawneuer.bsky.social is the right choice for RI Senate 13. She is the environmental champion we need in the statehouse at this critical time.

Last week @whatsupnewp.com published my op-ed on why we need to bring @dawneuer.bsky.social back to the Rhode Island Senate. tldr; Dawn has tremendous technical knowledge of utility & energy matters & is a real fighter in terms of addressing the #climatecrisis. /1 whatsupnewp.com/2026/07/lett...

The new #FCC #inverterban appears to be an incredible over-reach/power grab by the FCC to regulate goods (inverters) that it previously did not explicitly regulate. Also, most (all?) previous FCC authorizations (a voluntary process) applied to inverter components and not the inverters themselves./1

This is a really good time to buy all the rare books that you were ever interested in, and build a personal library that can be shared with others and later donated a secure location. I've already started. Icelandic sagas, 19th & 20th century political economy, and other topics.

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.

The devil is in the details and this is complex. At my day job, we are currently analyzing this. One major problem: these "previously authorized" (by the FCC) models of inverters mostly aren't inverters. They are inverter components. Not clear how existing inverter models will be treated.

Even though I buy ‘domestic content’ inverters to get the project wide 10% tax credit, this is going to affect me. From Roth:

The FCC’s determination covers inverters produced in any foreign country, regardless of the manufacturer’s nationality. The restrictions apply only to new models and do not affect previous models of inverters. Foreign-produced inverters may remain eligible for conditional approval if the Department of War (DoW) or the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determine that they do not pose unacceptable risks.

US Courts… ‘The Anthropic copyright case set the precedent — the US court ruled that by making a digital copy and destroying the physical in a one-for-one transfer, the process is deemed “transformative” and therefore protected by fair use.’ Unbelievable and unconscionable

A lot of us may have been watching the fires in Northern Minnesota & Ontario, but you might have missed that Oregon & Washington are also having #wildfires of a truly awesome scale. The Kaiser Canyon Fire was 60,000 acres when this article was written. /1 www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Kaiser Canyon fire scorches 60,000 acres, surrounds town of Nespelem

Firefighters in northeast Washington are working to save the town of Nespelem and Colville tribal buildings, as evacuees slept on cots Sunday.

I interviewed a lot of people when I worked at pv magazine. I can't think of anyone I interviewed who was smarter than Sheldon. But at the end of the day, a fully domestic #solar supply chain is the hard part. We do not have enough ingot/wafer or cell capacity to serve the market. /1

Sheldon Kimber's point on Energy Empire this week: our industry got too good at tax equity tuning and forgot how to build growth businesses.⁣ ⁣ Intersect ties domestic supply chain, merchant revenue, and cheaper capital into one bet. Not a stack of policy hacks. A growth premium, earned on purpose.
