i hate genAI so much but what i'm not gonna do is accuse authors of using it in public because everyone overestimates their ability to detect it. just quit reading the thing if you think it's AI rather than start a potential controversy over processes you do not understand.

The doctor who claimed that vaccines cause autism lost his medical license for faking for the study. But his lies and the damage he did to public health persist long after his paper was pulled. This is why science communication is so difficult; all it takes is one grifter.

I teach special education and I’m very upfront with the kids about my own ADHD and dyscalculia because I think it’s important for them to see adults that are like themselves. I also mention my anxiety issues, especially when I’m dealing with a trigger. I don’t talk much about my depression.

I'm curious how many people here identify themselves openly via a neurotype, i.e. saying that you have ADHD, depressive episodes, etc. Do you do this? Have you always done it, or have you started to more recently and why? To be clear: I think it's great. Curious about when it became more common.

People are so Capitalism-pilled that they see "user number big" as preferable + a reason Bluesky is "lesser" than other social media. But consider this: I don't want to be in a bigger, angrier, shittier crowd of people. I want to be in the smaller, curated, better behaved and more loyal crowd.

So embarrassing when people think the point of reading a novel is to know the plot, so a summary is just as good. The plot isn’t important, you rube. You absolute simpleton. The point of reading a novel is to find out what the characters are eating and start thinking about what you want for dinner.

Doing some back to school shopping on amazon and trying to decide which door stop is going to do the best job at keeping murderers out but also have a welcoming and approachable vibe. Being a teacher is wild.

I love how my stupid little jokes become beloved school traditions. I once sent a group text to remind folks we were meeting as "Avengers Assemble!" and three years later I get a text saying "Avengers...we are meeting in X room in five minutes."
