Book of Fuligin is a weird sci-fantasy comics anthology in honor of Gene Wolfe that me and a bunch of excellent artists created in 2022-24. I realized that many people who follow me here don't know about it, so it's time to change that.
I happened to notice that Indy appears to kill Marion 42 minutes into Raiders, then realizes she's alive 13 minutes later, and that Rey appears to kill Chewie 41 minutes into TRoS, and realizes he's alive 13 minutes later. People were FURIOUS.
Fight the good fight, Peter! This is a persistent Bay Area Star Wars Urban Legend. (BASWUL? Is that a thing?)
I was having a fantastic time until they started lying about George Lucas and Oakland port cranes. Hot ferry summer: The Bay Area’s toughest ticket is a wonky tour of the working waterfront. www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...
Just completed and published one of the largest projects I’ve ever done: a very thorough breakdown on Galaxy’s Edge and everything that can be found within it. https://numidianprime.wordpress.com/2026/08/19/black-was-the-spire-the-complete-star-wars-galaxys-edge/
begging y’all to have better media literacy than to think that every line of character dialogue is the author’s own deeply held belief
Keeps appearing on my TL. I read the author's FAQ where they say "the answers in the text" so I read it. This is gross, and the MC's unquestioned belief. Most of it is pro-LDS, the belief on homosexuality is "repress the action/sin", and prayer literally saves the day. Why is anyone defending this?
A Scottish Tory peer has spoken out in defence of using the N-word. Nigel Biggar argued in a blogpost that it is 'stupidly unjust' for people to be punished for using the N-word if they did not mean it in a racist way. Read more: www.thenational.scot/news/2...
They made an Amsterdamned 2 last year and it’s available on this KLM flight from Kilimanjaro to Amsterdam. English subtitles and everything.
I think we're going to Amsterdam this August so I'm watching this on Tubi.
Having just finished the 3rd and final season, I’m not sure there’s a sweeter, more tender tv comedy I can recall than Detectorists. Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones are just glorious. Had an uncurmudgeonly smile WAY too often. Recommended.
One thing I’ve learned: Kilimanjaro does not rise like Mount Olympus above the Serengeti. It’s like 200 miles away, Toto.
Heading back to our tent from the mess tent after dark last night our guide had to scare off a hyena with a rock.
Never have I seen something irl that looked more like an Indiana Jones matte painting. (Ngorongoro crater.)
Not gonna name names but an author once pushed back on a technical note saying “the Falcon isn’t a ‘57 Chevy” and the only response to that: “yes, it absolutely is.”
“George Lucas gave us our terms of reference on #StarWars and we have abided by them. ‘Everything,’ he said, ‘must relate to Earth, to what we know about our own planet.’ The Star Wars pictures are not science fiction.” - original trilogy production designer Norman Reynolds
I'm flying through Charles de Gaulle Airport tomorrow and I'm looking forward to trying some of that exotic French cuisine.
This movie is the source of Princess Leia's Shadows of the Empire look.
The Time Guardian (1987) TMDB score 48% In the distant future, the human race nears extinction and a new race of beast-like creatures rule the earth. The few surviving people live in the City, a huge protected construction with the ability to travel in both space and time. The City travels back to
It was so damn depressing to watch every TV writer who was willing and eager to have open, intelligent conversations about their process get hounded off social by a combination of aggressive stans and belligerent wannabes defending the right to be a shithead to creatives
I keep thinking about the discourse from the other day suggesting writers are gatekeeping writing information for ourselves and I just think back to 2019 when every writer was out there giving away writing advice until one by one each stopped because social media blows and we can't have nice things.
"Hm, I never really got into the X-Men, maybe I should go back and read some of the comic stories." "Uh, maybe not."
