Ever wondered how epithelial cells clear apoptotic cells while maintaining tissue cohesion?🍝🔗 Check our new paper in which we show that E-cadherin plays a dual role in regulating basal cortex dynamics upon phagocytosis while maintaining connected tissue organization www.nature.com/articles/s41...

De novo E-cadherin/catenin complex formation controls basal epithelial mechanics and force transmission for apoptotic cell clearance - Nature Communications

Epithelial cells remodel their shape during phagocytosis while preserving tissue cohesion. Here, authors show that the E-cadherin/catenin adhesion complex is repurposed at phagocytic contacts, where i...

📝 New preprint from the lab lead by Hanna Häkkinen, @martabatetpalau.bsky.social, and @laurafbianchi.bsky.social! The mechanics on how the early embryo stays clear from apoptotic debris. A surprising role for E-cadherin in non-professional phagocytic clearance 🍝.

🔥 Piping hot; fresh from the oven! Fever-like conditions accelerate immune cell speed and efficiency through thermoregulation of actomyosin contractility. Congrats to Ivan Company-Garrido, @alempheius.bsky.social, and @mcolomerr.bsky.social on this huge collaborative effort.

Ever wonder what happens to immune cells when we get a fever? Exicted to share our paper showing that temperature regulates immune cell migration via myosinII! A wonderful collaboration with Ivan, @alempheius.bsky.social, @valeriaventurini.bsky.social & all co-authors! bit.ly/48XRVGj

🌅➡️🏞️ LAB MOVE: Over the last months, the Ruprecht lab has made the move from @crg.eu to @uniinnsbruck.bsky.social. From the beach of Barcelona to the Austrian Alps. From research institute to university. Different views but not less beautiful. Let's see how the mountain air will boost our science.

Check out the latest paper from the lab in collaboration with the Sdelci lab on the interaction between mitochondria and nucleus under confinement ⚡

🚀 We’re excited to share our latest publication in collaboration with Verena Ruprecht's group at @crg.eu Mechanobiology meets Nuclear Metabolism www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Thank you for having me tagging along on this one! Can't wait to explore all of the possibilities of this spinning disc 🤩

We finally have a spinning disk confocal system! IXplore SpinSR with SoRa and silicone objectives for live-cell imaging! We are delighted to have Tom Skelhon from Evident Scientific to train us on its advanced features. Many thanks to David Peña for paving the way and organizing.

Our amazing CRG PhD community are celebrating their annual symposium today and tomorrow. Follow our first year students on Bluesky for snippets about all the amazing talks featured this year: @lassemiddendorf.bsky.social @mattezambon.bsky.social @iseultleahy.bsky.social

Thanks Charlie for opening the PhD Symposium! Many thanks to everyone involved in its organisation. #CRGPhDSymp2024
