Im sure there are actually horrible ghouls saying nightmarish things online but I actually think people rallying to support cultural institutions with their bodies in the face of the fascist assault on beauty and art is good

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

A 35 year old letter to the editor, written by a very ballsy 15 year old, about the Rodney King verdict.

ICE just executed someone in cold blood in Minneapolis. The agency is frantically trying to spin it but the videos are already out there. Murderous fascist pigs.

Organizers in Twin Cities making rare plea for folks to share broadly: ICE ops have changed & escalated this week. They've moved to a 'flood-the-zone' strategy, nabbing anyone they can from bus stops, the sidewalk, cars, or homes. This means indiscriminate abductions and obviously no warrants.

This Sunday, I'm co-leading a workshop on some research I've been working on over the last few years on "artwashing", genocide profiteers who fund major arts organizations, and activists organizing against them. Come check it out at the Seattle Liberation Center from 3pm-5pm!

⭕️ BREAKING: The latest National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) drafted in the U.S. Congress would require a “continual assessment … of international state arms embargoes on Israel” — with language aimed at filling any “defense capability gaps” those embargoes create, Zeteo reports.

This means the U.S. would explicitly use federal law to step in and supply weapons to Israel whenever other countries cut off arms to halt Israel’s ongoing violations across the region.

Several countries have moved to suspend or restrict arms exports to Israel over its two-year long genocide in Gaza, including Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, and Canada, which froze new export permits while allowing existing contracts to proceed. A group of independent United Nations Human Rights Council–mandated experts, including Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, have publicly called for a full arms embargo on Israel.

NEW: Buried in the new defense bill is a policy to fill weapon “gaps” Israel gets as other nations embargo it. As in: citing "wartime" needs, the US armed Israel’s genocide. Nations responded by restricting weapons to Israel. Now, citing those very restrictions, the US may send Israel *even more.*

🇮🇪🇪🇸🇸🇮🇳🇱 BREAKING | Four major broadcasters – Ireland, Spain, Slovenia and the Netherlands – have pulled out of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest after the EBU confirmed Israel will be allowed to compete despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Despite a wave of pressure and boycott threats urging the EBU to bar Israel, the union declined not to hold a vote on Israel’s eligibility. Instead it introduced voting-system reforms, limiting televotes per device and restoring juries in the semi-finals, all meant to curb alleged vote manipulation after evidence that Israel benefited from state-backed promotion and coordinated voting in 2025.

The 2026 contest in Vienna now faces its largest boycott in years, raising fresh doubts about Eurovision’s claim to be a unifying cultural event.Channel 4 News

The EBU and participating national broadcasters met in Geneva today to debate whether Israel should be allowed to continue participating in Eurovision, with Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain all threatening to boycott.

The vibe shift today is, I think, due to the fact that New Yorkers were on the offensive instead of the defensive. Usually with protests, demonstrators have to defend the space, defend their right to march, etc. They get beat up and pushed around and antagonized into chaos and trauma. 1/

I just saw a headline describing the incredible work yesterday of preventing dozens of ICE from doing a mass raid on Canal st as "police arrest and pepper spray dozens of people outside garage". That IS NOT the story!!!

Art in the last 24 hours: Freakier Friday—way better than it has any business being. I cried! Hamnet (the book): Stunning! Also cried! The prose! Giving birth in the woods! The final scene in the theatre! The Substance: So scary. Can't sleep. Very good storytelling. Hated the ending.
