When no one was listening to creative workers and our concerns about the impact of genAI in our fields, Timnit did ;) She is not only "one of the fiercest voices in the world speaking truth to power", she also give the space and the voice to precarious workers. Something that not everyone does 🔥

🔇 🔇 🔇 My book, Deep Unlearning, is now available for preorders! I don't know how people write so many books because this one took a lot out of me. It turns out, I had a lot to say 😂, with editors cutting out 50k of my words 🫣 ✴️ You can now preorder it at www.simonandschuster.com/books/Deep-U....

Cover of my new book, Deep Unlearning: The Rise of AI and The Radicalization of a Tech Idealist.

There are two concentric circles in the book, the left being circuits in black an white, and the right being a bunch of dots with orange accents. The cover background is cream. And the words are written in black except for "Un" which is in orange.

Recent experience with the insidiousness of perceived AI slop 🧵: Our student SMT Data Challenge bans AI, including writing their final papers. We’re able to enforce the ban because organizers work closely with the kids as advisors/mentors. 1/

New: LinkedIn just introduced a "seems like AI slop" button. That's literally what the button says. The thought leaders are going to have a meltdown www.404media.co/linkedin-int...

What does "Responsive and Responsible AI Use in the Classroom" look like? @gilliansmac.bsky.social, Sarah Freye, and Danielle Nicole DeVoss, and I addressed this in a wonderful roundtable discussion revised for the newest volume of the Proceedings of the H-Net Teaching Conference. Check it out!

What does the future of the classroom look like with the rise of A.I.? 🏫 @h-net-journals.bsky.social's newest volume of the Proceedings of the H-Net Teaching Conference discusses questions like this and more. networks.h-net.org/group/announ... #ai #education #teaching #edusky #academia

I am both honored and excited to have been named keynote speaker for the 2026 H-Net Teaching Conference. I will be speaking on the importance, and responsibility, of modeling empathetic, civil discourse for students in an era of stark, unhealthy binaries in social media and our political discourse.

H-Net is stronger as an organization due to the fantastic contributions from Brandon Bell over the past few years. Some people you hate to lose because of the energy they brought to the team. Some because of the consistency and quality of their work. Brandon is all of these things. Thanks Brandon.

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to an incredible staffer.💛 Over the past three years, Brandon has made an undeniable impact on H-Net and has brought so much joy to our home office. We wish you nothing but success in your future endeavors. Thank you for everything, Brandon!🌟

I’ve been largely absent from this platform in recent months. I had arguably the busiest four months of my career: leading H-Net, teaching 4 classes, and serving on many committees in many capacities.
