Police have killed 741 people so far in 2026. 8 days total have gone by without one police killing this calendar year. That doesn't even get national media attention. They are uninterested in holding power to account.

Godspeed You! Bluesky Emperor@andrewpaul.bsky.social · yesterday

we have reached 23 deaths in ICE camps this year alone wondering if there's a hard number that will finally warrant national media coverage, or if we're just gonna keep running David Ellison op-eds 🤷

This thread misses perhaps the most important factor in people's actual purchasing decisions: what can they afford. Real wages have not kept up with inflation. And necessities - food, housing - have gotten wildly more expensive relative to real income. So people have less to spend on other goods

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Huge parts of Spokane, Washington are on fire. Neighborhoods burning to the ground. Over 7500 acres from 3 separate fires, all 0% contained. This will end up being as bad or worse than the LA fires, but get less attention because they aren't multimillion dollar homes and celebrities.

Asked Schmetzer again about any added urgency to bring in reinforcements. “Of course it does. What I’ve been saying I don’t want to make a bad decision. … Smart people understand what we’re trying to accomplish and we’re trying to make a good decision. Yes, we need some reinforcements.”

The truth is that if we weren't in a six game losing streak, this wasn't a bad performance. Especially missing this many players. But we are. And it's still the Timbers.
