RPG gamer. Draw Steel PDFs https://jesteroc1.itch.io/

This is the second time this week that a Draw Steel game group I’m in spontaneously brought up how much they loved playing Draw Steel as compared to d20 fantasy games. Completely unprompted they brought up how they loved how easy it is to play after not playing for months …

Getting prepped for today’s draw steel game. For my second at table group. For today i wanted to combine two locations for a number of reasons, i also am avoiding using the slimes again and making custom monsters because one of the players doesn’t like fighting slimes. #drawsteel

Ran my 2nd session of the playtest crack the sun on Draw Steel’s VTT. As it is a playtest none of the monsters or maps have been input into the VTT yet. So lots of work to input everything in, but it has been worth it as the story line is interesting. Can’t wait to see how the players like act 2

Spider-man Brand new day was great,I felt every aspect of that movie from the villains, to the supporting characters, music etc all touched on the theme of how loneliness drains your mental state whether if it self imposed or forced upon you. All woven together with action and humor.

Finally saw Mando and Grogu. It felt uneven in execution. Solid start, really felt flat in the arena, picked back up again at the end. I did appreciate the dedication to puppetry. Yes it takes you out of the moment when you see it, but it is so cute it works. Contrast that with ...

Great day of gaming! The players came up with a new way of entering level 3! Which might have involved a little murder. The oozes were fun and the layout of the room made for interesting choices. The montage that followed really got everyone at the table discussing tactics.

My Draw Steel family game is today! They are just about to enter level 3 of the Delian tomb (spoiler images) here is the first trick, with the pit trap with cut away view. Also made the kill room a little killy-er with spinning knife columns. #drawsteel

Fun Draw Steel game using Codex today. 3rd level PCs fought to kill/close a weakened Lumbering Egress that had made a keep uninhabitable for 30+ years. I will use this ending to move away from a story line I had been working on to test the playtest of Crack The Sun! Wish me luck! #drawsteel

Yesterday’s Epic fight on the stairs in my draw steel game, I (the director) had the least epic, epic rolls. A surviving single minion attacked a PC with zero recoveries left. Rolled nat 20, followed by a nat 19. Total damage.. 6 stamina. 😂

The hero’s engaged the undead guardians and debated the strategies of focus fire on the dame, remove the annoying minions or steal the cup. The answer turned out to be “yes” with the dame being dropped when one minion was left, and the shadow was halfway down the stairs with the cup. 😂 #drawsteel

Final form of the map, thank you @dmchuck.bsky.social for the heads up on the xl dungeon kit. Made a last minute update (the raised platform) to rush some changes in. Can’t wait to see how the players will ruin all the undead’s plans to stop them. 2 hours till they draw steel.

Just a note on how I use my own cheat sheets for Draw Steel. I Have a thin 3 ring binder I call my Battle Book. The first pages are my cheat sheets, then I have these pages from the core book. 69-77: abilities 249-263 Test rules 265-280 Combat 283-289 Negotiation 293-311 Downtime Projects #drawsteel

After reading playtest of Crack the Sun. I realized that my previous map (while based on a lot of other art out there) was not very accurate and would cause confusion if I used it. So... with the help of a map found on a stream of Mat C that folks pointed me to, I made some touch ups. #drawsteel
